ABOUT ME

My name is Matt, I'm 23 and have lived in Liverpool for most of my life, but have lived away from home and travelled a little. I live alone just outside of Liverpool City Centre, and have a spacious 1 bedroom apartment which overlooks the docks and the river Mersey. I love meeting new people, helping people and having new experiences. I recently took part in a 7 part TV series which was shown on channel 4 in October 2012, with people from all over the world including the USA, Canada, Australia, South Africa, Tanzania, Poland and Iran. I loved the personalities and stories from the people I met who have become close friends.
My profile says I only responded to 60% of requests, this is because I was in hospital for 3 months (october to January) and was unable to use CS. I reply to all messages and requests as soon as i can :) I CAN'T HOST MUCH AT THE MOMENT BECAUSE I WORK A LOT BUT IF I AM OFF I WILL BECAUSE I LOVE HOSTING. I GET MY WORK SHIFTS 1 MONTH AT A TIME SO I CAN SEE WHEN I AM OFF.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe that every cloud has a silver lining and that it' not how long you live that matters but how well you live. One of my favourite sayings is 'In order to find yourself you have to lose yourself'.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

As well as providing somewhere for my guest to sleep, I also like to talk, to share stories, and to learn new words in new languages (I speak fluent French and some Greek but I want to learn Italian, Spanish, and German) If I have time I like to show my guests around - whether it be the city and buildings, the art galleries, the bars, the music scene or the docks. If i'm unable to show my guest around I have alot of maps and booklets showing what Liverpool has to offer.

I've only hosted so far, but hope to Couchsurf myself in 2014.

Being part of a life changing TV show, singing in the West End, recording an album, and flying in a helicopter have been some of the best experiences of my life so far, but there are lots more!

Although I'm young (24) I've lived a very fulfilling and varied life and have lots of stories to tell. I have been an Art Student, a Police Officer, a TV Personality, a Support Worker, a retail worker and i've worked in schools. As English is my native language I can help anyone wishing to extend their knowledge of English language or the British culture. I'll have surfers from anywhere but I'd especially welcome a couch surfer from Italy because I want to travel there and I think it's much easier to learn and remember with a native!
