About Me

I'm a history and German student in Berlin who wants to work as a tour guide. I can't offer accommodation yet but if anyone is in Berlin and wants a completely free, well informed and hopefully rather good walking tour I'll be your tour guide if you give me some feedback.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have just finished off a month of travels and I love the hostelling culture of exchanging stories, tricks and insight. Also I want to gain some experience as a tour guide, so for if youre in Berlin drop me a message for a walking tour :)

A tale of two cities

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

If anyone is still looking for a house - because I know one person - I would recommend of just knocking on the house. It's what I did and I have ended up with the coolest, nicest housemates.
I bought a bottle of wine and expensive chocolates (cos first impressions count, right wink emoticon ) and knocked on a house I found on WG-Gesucht (a flat sharing website in Berlin).
Three hours later I was clubbing in a place 100x what the Phoenix is: I thought it was the bees knees but my new housemates thought it was a crap club for Berlin, which only wanted to make me see them all!
But it started with this knock. And its something I wouldnt have attempted in London. It seems forward, spontaneous, and desperate - because in my case it was. But do you want future housemates that would turn you down because of that? (Either way, all YA students are forward and desperate at least when house hunting!)
The best thing about unashamedly rocking up and asking "can I live here?", is that you get just as long to suss the people you might be living with, as they have to judge you.
In the first 20 seconds I knew they were German speaking (free tuition round the clock), cool, and knew Berlin well. In 5 minutes I said my practiced line in German, "The thing is, I'm looking for friends really, not just flatmates" and I gain a couple of happy smiling housemates. In 30 minutes I knew their surnames, English school teachers funny habits, and that I had found a brilliant house.
Since then I have had a (failed) job interview at a newspaper, gone to Oktoberfest, joined a running club by accident, and a hell of a lot more.
