Overview
About Me
I'm Matt.
25 and two months (Feb 2015). I'm British, more specifically Cornish.
Mining Engineer. That means I get two screens at my desk. I've made it.
I travel. So much that I've forgotten what the British countryside smells like.
And I surf. So much that I have RSI in my shoulders.
Cooking. And food. And good wine. Coffee as well. I wouldn't have a degree without it.
I don't want to use the term sporty, but...
And I hate to use the term 'cultured'...
I stay up late and read Bukowski.
I stay up late and drink craft beer.
I stay up late and pretend I'm a writer
I want to do what the locals do. Sit at the bar and hear about the girl that got away.
The tropics lure me out of the underground as often as my pay check will allow.
I miss hearing seagulls in the mornings.
I've only ever lived in loft rooms.
Let me stay with you please.
I'm tidy. And organised. That's what my friends will tell you if I bribe them with beer.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Because hotels are bland and expensive, and I'm becoming too old to cope with the hostel lifestyle.
I want the local experience, the shit that isn't in the guide books. Show me the best dive bar and the quietest beach, because that's what I'd show you at home.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Finished a novel.
Teach, Learn, Share
Vague, Vaguer, Vaguest.
My old man was a sailor; I know a few knots. I've had mixed success in attempting to tutor the art of surfing. (More below)
I wish somebody would teach me how to go out in the rain without being miserable. I've had plenty on practice.
I'll sare with you the secret to British melancholy if you allow me to use your couch (sofa).
What I Can Share with Hosts
Aside from fantastic company, a sure-fire drinking buddy and in-house chef, I can try to teach you to surf.
Or snowboard.
Or cook.
I'll also grab you a six pack of a beer of your choice. And then drink three of them. With you.
