Sobre mí

Hello there! Matthew and Holly here :)

We are a travelling couple with a passion for culture, wildlife, food and the human story.

I am a disabled athlete playing sledge hockey and Holly is a Psychology student at the University of Cambridge.

We met at a festival and enjoy live music, performing arts and seeing how people around the world like to celebrate life.

My hobbies are sports, art, performance and spoken word. Holly likes beans, brass instruments and Rod Stewart.

Holly is also a keen pokémon collector.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing because I want to really get to the heart of places that I wish to visit in the world, and I believe that the best way to do that is to meet people and share with each other personal experiences and advice of actually living in the environments that they live in, as the human story is the one we can relate to most often and you can get much more of a sense of involvement, history and energy from a place, rather than an abstract experience from visiting somewhere as a tourist. Most importantly, people on Couchsurfing are of similar minds and philosophies and are sharing their time, space and experiences from a pure and genuine place, rather as an occupation or a moneyspinner and know that to share the human experience is a mutual blessing and brings the world closer together.

Intereses

Anything geeky, like comics, superheros, gadgets and skyrim. (Haven't played the other Elder Scrolls games).

I'm addicted to music festivals and love live music and any excuse for a knees-up.

I love nature, natural history, human history, am fascinated with geology and weather systems and would describe myself as a keen environmentalist and a bit of a hippy, but I subscribe to the school of logic. I love documentaries and anything educational.

Exploring spirituality and peoples' interpretation to the inner cosmos and the universe as well is something that I'd call an interest, but I don't waffle on and push any conversation here if it's not someone's cup of tea, I'm not a preaching crackpot (unless I've had too many tequilas and am feeling the love. If that's the case, just send me in the direction of a loudspeaker and tell me to dance it off)

Música, películas y libros

Music: Anything that isn't commercial, unimaginative, autotuned, too poppy, or churned out by the Simon Cowell Machine
Movies: Anything that makes me think
Books: A Song of Ice and Fire, Warriors (GRRM), Marvel Comics, National Geographic, Crime and Punishment, the list could go on...

Algo increíble que he hecho

I have a habit of befriending homeless people and although it's not "Amazing" or a claim to fame, I feel it's important and believe that the most amazing things you can do are the small, unseen things that make a difference in people's lives, particularly to give time, yourself and hope to others.

A conventional answer would be that I'm hoping to make the GB squad, but I haven't done that yet

Enseña, aprende, comparte

I would like to think that my experiences in life and where I hope to take them can make a difference to others and inspire people to overcome hardship and mental, personal or spiritual poverty and do amazing things themselves - , it's not so much teaching someone, but encouraging them to see the divine within themselves and to demonstrate that there's greatness in us all that we can achieve so much with, and helping to support that growth so that they can go on to be an example themselves and spread hope and love, as if we all did something we were good at and fulfilled by, we'd all take a pay cut I'm sure, and there'd be a lot more people willing to choose fulfilment and inspiration and happiness over repetition, wealth and consumerism

Qué puedo ofrecer a los anfitriones
