About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Readjusting to life in "La USA"

ABOUT ME

I am very easy-going, love good company, but hate being near people who complain and bitch and judge others. I am always up for an adventure. I read, play sports (mainly soccer), travel, and hang with friends (and family when I am near them). I get excited about meeting someone new from a different place and culture. Diversity is very beautiful. I am trying to learn as much as I can from my friends how to cook better. I want to be a great cook.

PHILOSOPHY

family gets you through life. and when that isn't available, well then friends fill in quite nicely.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I hate being a tourist, seen as someone who is here to spend money and not appreciate the local beauty. I love having a contact somewhere who can plug me in to the local social sphere. I want to be that contact for others too.

Interests

Music, Movies, and Books

No favorites.

An author I really like right now is Neal Stephenson.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Peace Corps. AKA living the life with a Salvadoran community. Experiencing what it's like to be marginalized, poor, subsistent, post-war traumatized, and completely isolated.

Teach, Learn, Share

Never grab taxis next to the bus terminal. Avoid anything with mayonnaise unless it's freshly made. Try the local "tipica," even if it looks bland and has disgusting ingredients. In order to truly experience the culture of a new place, you must live there. So try your best to be a part of life in your new place (volunteer, work, stay with local families, etc.)
