About Me

I am a science communicator, a funk musician, a dedicated teacher, an audiobook aficionado, a basketball fan, a budding chef, an amateur chess player, and a former Canadian reality TV show star. I'm travelling with my girlfriend Alice (see photos!), a badass lawyer, improv comedy performer, avid rower, TV writer, random fact connoisseur, and former child skiing prodigy. A bit more about us:

(1) We heckin' love learning. We stay up late discussing legal theory, science education, global politics, animal welfare, and what precisely constitutes a sandal. We'd love to discuss these things, and everything else, with you! (But we're also good at keeping quiet if need be.)

(2) We think humans are incredible. We cooperate to build amazing societies and civilizations. We cure diseases, travel in metal birds, talk on hand-held micro-computers, and share our stories through literature, art, and song. We feel unbelievably privileged to live in a time where we can explore and experience the amazingness of humans around the world.

(3) We are in awe of the natural world. The earth is weird and wonderful, and we want to see every strange rock formation, majestic waterfall, and animal-teeming jungle out there.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I had my first Couchsurfing experience while travelling in New Mexico researching the history of nuclear physics and the atomic bomb. My hosts were unbelievably kind and generous, and it was a privilege to learn from them, spend time with them, and ultimately become their friends. I want to have the same types of experiences all around the world. When I own my own home in the near future, I plan to enthusiastically host others to give back to this wonderful community.
