About Me

Hi, everybody! I’m Matías, from Argentina, I’m 24 and I decided that at this stage of my life I want to travel —but more than that, I want to do it without a set time limit!— My intuition has been telling me for some time to follow my heart and see where it takes me.

I define myself as a curious guy who loves experiencing new things and meeting new people. I’m outgoing, reliable and kind. Sometimes I can be spontaneous and impulsive but I’m equally very organised and dependable. In a working environment, I’m responsible and reliable and I’ll go out of my way to build relationships with work colleagues, as for me it creates an enjoyable atmosphere and it always keeps me motivated. I also like learning things by taking the time to listen to others and getting to know other cultures.

When I was younger I fell in love with theatre. It brought me some of the most wonderful moments in my life and allowed me to meet awesome people who are still part of who I am today.

I like singing whenever possible — whether that be in the shower, at the campfire, with someone playing the guitar, no matter where! I enjoy cycling and in fact, visiting places on my bike makes my heart happier. I also enjoy cooking and learning new recipes, although I think what I really like about that is sharing meals with others as I find it such an amazing social setting that brings people together. I like taking photos, attending cultural events and dancing at night. Deep conversations watching the stars, as well. I like languages, teaching, and reading interesting stories and content.

I now want to travel to gain new perspectives of the world, to feel I’m the owner of my time and to be the best version of myself I can be. I want to learn to be fully available for life and embrace every opportunity. For me, the best things happen when they are unexpected, but we need to be in the present moment, available, free. And magic occurs.

I hope these details have been useful to get to know me a bit more :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I could tell you my favourite series, which is Please like me, amazing. I really like the book "Los llanos" by Federico Falco, and at the moment I'm reading "On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous" by Ocean Vuong.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I travelled Europe alone when I was twenty for three months, and since that I continued travelling, having unique experiences and meeting new people from different countries. It helped me to understand and realise that I want to use my time to enjoy life. I was able to enjoy unexpected experiences with new people that made me feel alive and happy. More recently, I wanted to see if I still have the strengh for doing it, so I took my bag and I went to the North of Argentina, again alone, and I fell in love with everything. And then I went to the South: same story. I went camping at the top of a mountain and it was a life experience I'll never forget.

When I'm travelling, I feel like I'm better, I'm braver and I'm happier. So for now, I've decided to put my life in this chaotic city on pause and instead, to travel around different places and invest time in knowing myself at this point of my life. I love meeting people and having the time and the desire to let things naturally happen — and as I've mentioned, just being available and ready for life.

Teach, Learn, Share

Over the last two years, I have worked as a tour guide at Centro Cultural Recoleta in Buenos Aires. My job has required connecting with groups of teenagers to show them the city in a dynamic and interesting way.

I've worked as an Actor in various theatre plays and projects here, and I've been Director Assistant too. I'm really into cultural environments.

In addition to this, I enjoy teaching and I'm actually also a Theatre Teacher. Also, in 2020-2021, I lost my job in culture due to the pandemic, so I've been giving Spanish lessons online through a teaching website. I'm good at explaining concepts and I like everything about languages (and the process of both teaching and learning them). On top of this, for six years now, I've been tutoring high-school students in different subjects, such as Maths, Physics and Chemistry.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I really like to cook, I can take care of making some delicious recipes. I also really like cultural activity, we could organise to make some plan like that. I offer to help with household cleaning if my stay is long-lasting. I also really like to take walks to get to know the place, I have knowledge about camping in the mountains and I really like to sing. I can give Spanish lessons if needed. And of course I'm a very good friend to party.
