Hello everyone, my name's Matyáš but friends usually call me Mates. I grew up in a small town called Zlín, Czech republic. The main label I wear now is a "physiotherapy student". Studies take up most of my time throughout the year and, as you may know, are sometimes a bit frustrating. That's when backpacking comes in. I love spending time in nature and I like to document it, taking pictures and shooting video.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm convinced travelling is not about letting some agency plan your whole trip and tell you what to do but rather about meeting locals, being on your own and deciding for yourself what you want to do and see.

Interests

I'm really passionate about individual sports such as parkour, calisthenics, rockclimbing and slacklining. When I'm not jumping, climbing or hanging on stuff, I like to sit down with my ukulele and sing a few songs, even though I'm not a great singer :) or I pick up my camera and take a picture of something that pleases my eye.

I'm a real fantasy fan currently hooked on the Witcher series by Andrzej Sapkowski. My all-time favourite is probably The Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin - I'm impatiently awaiting the release of the 6th book in the series and naturally I also love the HBO adaptation Game of Thrones.

Music
I don't have a favourite genre. I listen to anything from rock, metal across techno and folk all the way to rap as long as it has meaningful lyrics or at least a great tune. Favourite artists: Of Monsters and Men, Macklemore, Watsky, James Bay, Hozier, Skillet, Eluveitie, Ok Go, Tom Waits, Bruce Springsteen and many others.

I can teach you some parkour and gymnastic moves or a few chords on uke. :) Wanna know something about photography and photo editing? I'm not a professional but I sure can tell you few tips and tricks if you're starting out. I love experimenting in the kitchen, always keen to learn new recipes!
