As far as it is possible to describe oneself, I think I'm an open-minded, helpful, thoughtful and curious person. Perhaps it's important to know that I've been a vegetarian for a long time now. Besides work, my main interests are mountain sports and music.
After finishing high school , I went traveling in New Zealand and Australia for 9 months, which was just amazing.

After traveling I started studying physics in Heidelberg.
During my studies I went to Bergen in Norway as an ERAMSUS student for a year, which was an awesome and wet experience. xD
Then, I've moved to Innsbruck in Austria for a Master and PhD degree in atmospheric sciences and to have the mountains around all the time. Now I work for the federal office for meteorology in Salzburg.

I would say I'm sort of an adventurous and ambitious person, who is always seeking for challenges, physically and mentally. However I'm not really an extrovert person.

I think couchsurfing is simply the best way to explore a new city.
You can really get to know the people that live there and their culture. They might show you their city from a totally different perspective than you could ever get by some guided tour or so.

But I'm actually hosting more than I surf. It's nice to meet interesting people from all over the world without having to travel far.

First of all I'm always keen on trying out new stuff. I love nearly all kind of nature sports such as paragliding, rock climbing, hiking, snowboarding, skiing, cycling, kayaking.
I also like playing music and dancing, mostly lindy hop and Latin dances. I play the drums, the guitar and a bit of piano and I like going to concerts.

I listen a lot to Alternative and Indie folk music.
Concerning books and movies, I am very open for nearly everything really.
But I usually prefer something that either touches my heart or challenges my mind.

I've been traveling around by car in New Zealand. I've done loads of hiking, swimming in ice cold waters, rock climbing, kayaking, caving, 4WD, wwoofing and loads more. This is just a perfect country for all kind of adventures!
My favourite experience there was on Stewart Island. I hiked for 12 days on the North West Circuit, fighting my way through dense bush, deep mud and rain and hail storms. On the wonderful rugged beaches I felt a millions miles away from civilization. It was just amazing!
