About Me
Hi folks!
I'm Maura, coming from the US (I grew up in Texas but have lived in the North East for six years now). I am taking a break from working in community development to travel and, well, experience different communities. I am getting ready to walk England’s South West Coast Path, taking time to explore the culture and landscape of the towns along the trail.
If we do meet, I think you'll find that I am a rather friendly and easy going person who is equally happy with a a social night out as I am with a low key conversation or a good book. In terms of hobbies, I enjoy meeting new people, dancing, meditation, fermentation, and learning new things.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Meeting new people is one of my favorite parts of traveling. I never take it for granted when someone is willing to share their home with me - what a special opportunity to get to know one another.
I'd love to have the opportunity to return the hospitality that I've experienced while traveling. Please do reach out if you're in my area and need a place to stay, recommendations, or support.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I once spent an evening cooking vegetable stew for a group of Tibetan Buddhist Monks. It was a rather wholesome experience.
Also I spent a summer of my life doing an ethnographic study of the Jewish Community Farming Movement in the United States and Canada. Equally wholesome.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach environmental and sustainability principles, as well as niche information about the value of liberal arts education.
The real question: what can't I learn?
I enjoy folk waltz, and am happy to share a dance, along with what I know of basic and intermediate moves, if such things interest you.
