About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Finish painting and renovating so we can get back out to enjoy our world

ABOUT ME

My partner Maurice and I are retired, enjoy cooking, gardening - especially growing vegetables and fruit, building and home renovations. We like to be busy and active. My partner and I enjoy bushwalking (trekking /tramping) and have done many overnight and extended walks in Australia and some overseas. We have also enjoyed cross country skiing and snow camping. Maurice is interested in boats and has done some sailing.
We are interested in environmental issues, music, art.

PHILOSOPHY

Family is important to me. Treating people and the environment with respect and consideration is important to me. The way we live our lives now builds the world our children and grandchildren will inherit. Building community, respecting and working with nature bring positive outcomes. Greed for money and power lead to exploitation, with a breakdown of community and environment.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We enjoy meeting people of all ages from different parts of the world. It's interesting to hear their experiences and get different perspectives on life.
We like to travel, often staying at hostels or camping near huts on popular treks.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Enjoyed meeting and staying with John in Christchurch, New Zealand in March '13; highlights were seeing his garden and hearing about his philosophy on life - especially the 'Gift Economy'.

Interests

My partner and I enjoy trekking/bushwalking and backpacking in Australia and overseas. We enjoy meeting people from other countries - it gives insights into different values and perspectives. At home we are busy with projects - building and renovating. We like the challenge of learning other languages and I am learning Spanish . Maurice enjoys boats and sailing.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

We did the first 4 days of the GR20 walk in Corsica in 2004, traversed the Western Arthur's in Tasmania in 2007.
Perhaps the most amazing was a 17 day unsupported walk in Kakadu above the escarpment with a small group from the Walking Club I belong to.

I am learning Spanish, and like to try conversing with others.
I have some experience gardening and growing vegetables. Maurice has done some sailing and several building projects.
