About Me

I'm a third year PhD student in economics at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. I'm originally from Mexico and my interests broadly lie in social sciences, statistics, travelling and cooking.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I firmly believe the best way to get to know a place is by doing what locals do - the more you can get involved with the local life, the better. As a result, the opportunities that this platform has to offer are taylored suited for such a thing.

Music, Movies, and Books

I grew up listening to late 60s psychodelic rock as well as 90s progressive rock. However, over the last few years I've been trying to expand my horizons with new music, ranging from underground hip-hop to contemporary classic music.

Movies and books are impossible to compact in one paragraph, but I usually read challenging books, and play whatever except chewing gum movies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once developed a machine learning model to predict the price of painting in art auctions that turned out to be the more accurate than the existing models.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I consider myself a story-teller, that's one of the things that people notice about me. Story-telling engages people into debates and more conversations that make links stronger.
