About Me

CURRENT MISSION

As said by Kito Aya: I wanna be like the air. The good-hearted person whose kindness overflows and people realize how important she was to them, once she is gone. I wanna be that kind of person!

ABOUT ME

I want to say i'm a little bit of everything. Somedays I'm just glad to have a day off from school and laze around doing nothing at all. Somedays i'd read a book from start till end in one go, somedays i'd watch asian/spanish tv shows or stay on wikipedia going on a whozits and whatzits galore; or even just go out for a run. Then there are also the days where i'd say to myself, Maushika, what are you doing with your life?!" and i'd go find something new to do! RANDOM is my middle name! :D

PHILOSOPHY

'The sun is shining, the sky is deep blue, there is a lovely breeze and I'm longing- so longing- for everything.... I believe that it's spring within me, I feel that spring is awakening, I feel it in my whole body and soul, I am completely confused and I dont knw what to do, I only know that I'm longing- so longing- for everything!'

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

This whole couchsurfing thing is very new to me and I think that the whole idea of it however is absurdly wonderful! I firmly believe that giving is what you get back so i do intend to contribute and join the circle in whatever way possible. I might not be able to do much because I'm currently a broke college student who is living in the dorms or not so great apartments, but definitely someday, I will give back!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Give me a few more months to try it out for myself and i'll let you knw!!

Interests

Languages & culture, how it has evolved and is still evolving.
Travel! DUh! :P
I love a good book and a nice hot cup of tea along with it!
Music, ranging from very mellow ones to quite noisy ones. Sometimes I like a piece for the melody, sometimes just for the beat sometimes just for the lyrics and even better if all three are together. I've tried playing some instruments and have enjoyed it thoroughly, though i've never been able to receive any formal instructions for any. So as much as I love playing instruments and being in a band, i'm still somewhat of a novice. People who have chosen music or art as a path of life amaze me!
I may not look the part, but I love outdoorsy stuff! Love love Football a.k.a soccer (sorry, I'm too used to using the other word and i think its going to take a while to get used to the word soccer!), and trying hard to understand American football which is very new to me. So I wouldnt mind learning about how the rules work. I am after all, living in America, and loving every second of it.
Family!
Friends, and making new ones!
Working out, and desserts, though both dont seem to go together very well! Hahahah
Movies that make me think!
Asian TV shows (yes, i'm a hopeless romantic! Get to work on my language skills too so its like killing 2 birds in a stone!)
A walk outside in the Autumn and listening to the leaves go crunch crunch crunch!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My philosophy in life is to appreciate the simplest things in life that I get to do/experience be it a good one or bad as I think we only learn from mistakes and grow with more experience. Thus being able to go to bed without major worries and getting up i the morning to a new day is an amazing experience in its own. One moment that is always in my mind is when I visited a tiny village in Italy called Civezza and lived there for a week with a friend and her family. The town was almost cut off from the rest of the world once you enter the village, and thats where we stayed, in an old house in a village on a hill overlooking the sea and miles and miles of olive gardens. Everytime I sat out to just enjoy the scenery, I could not help but think about how eventhough disjuncted the village seemed from the real world, I felt like you could just go in and get lost in it, no one/thing can bother you in mind. Sort of like a release from reality. I had never felt so light in my life before, the farmers and villagers seemed like they did not have a single worry in life!! hahah!

Teach, Learn, Share

Human Biology and clinical lab related things. I've been obsessed with languages and cultures for as long as I can remember so anything related to that, I'd be glad to join the conversation! I can share my knowledge of what i've learned from the past 23 years of my life, be someone's language practice partner, I could also lend a ear.

Learn? You name it, and i'm all set for the lesson!
