Hi, my name is Maximilian and I am 26 years old.
I am born, raised on the country side in Austria, but right now i live in our capital Vienna to study Journalism.
Obviously I like spending time abroad to see different places and discover new lands, may it be for social impacts, hiking, climbing, snowboarding, camping (often goes hand in hand with previous points) or just for the sake of traveling itself!
Another big hobby of mine is photography, so especially while traveling you have to be prepared that I will carry around my camera a lot, trying to capture the moment.
I can be kind of a nerd, thats for sure, so don't mind me if I throw in a cool side fact by random. Well this only works in my places, so on the other hand while traveling I am always keen for learning something new.
Because i am coming from the land of beer i am always up for one, especially when it is one i never tasted before.

All in all I am always up for conversations of any kind, life lessons, adventures, parties, or just enjoying moments in peaceful silent.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I was an exchange student twice so far and trough that I came in contact with many internationals.
Wow, very unique right?
Also I am hitchhiking every now and then and I am always happy when I can find a place to stay, so the other hand I know how it is when coming to a new place and there is just somebody who can give you a lift, offer you help, or a place to crush on. It can truly save your ass, so why not be the person helping.

Genre doesn't matter that much often, as long as the artist is nice.

Books..ugh again a hard one.. Hunter S Thompson, Jon Krakauer, Helge Timmerberg, Thomas Bernhard, Kafka, Büchner, Nestroy, Brecht, Bachmann, Jelinek, Schiller, Goethe, Tolkien, Nick Cave, Jo Nesbø, Bukowski, Joachim Meyerhoff, Milan Kundera, Jelinek, TC Boyle .. goes on.. I also write myself tho.

Ok, this is enough. I can't start with movies here, because I am basically 70% movies. I even host the weekly Movienight at my home university if that does not speak for itself.
Anyways there are many more movies to watch, so I am always up for a recommendation.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was once an exchange student and lived in Copenhagen for some time and after that hat I went out on my own to hitchhike through the Faroe Islands, where I got up a mountain that haven't had a name, so I thought I could be the first one that climbed it, because there are not many people at all, so I named it after myself, took a plane back to cph, hitchhiked alone through scandinavia with a tent, which took me about a month to go from Oslo to Helsinki through the Lofoten, amazing place tho, and a year later I went abroad again and moved to Reykjavik and stayed there for half a year.
