About Me

I think I'm a thoughtful and kind person, and those are also the two characteristics I value most in people. I'm mainly a good listener, but can definitely share a good story or two.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've heard a lot of good things about couchsurfing, but have never tried it.

Recently I decided it was worth it to me to spend the money to go see LeBron James play the Bulls on March 30th. Some of my friends feel similarly, but they are arriving in Chicago a couple days after me, so I need a place to stay in the meantime.

More generally, I want to try couchsurfing because it is an easy and cheap way for me to remove myself from my bubble, share my experiences, meet new people, and learn from others.

Interests

There are a few things I know I like, and I try to do them fairly often, but I'm mainly interested in trying new things and having new experiences.

  • cooking
  • traveling
  • music

  • scuba diving

Music, Movies, and Books

I recently got Spotify, which has changed the way I listen to music to be more about songs than albums or artists. I love their Discover Weekly playlist, but I'm not sure if I like the transition in general. Here are some albums I love:

Bridge Over Troubled Water - Simon and Garfunkel
Yeezus - Kanye
Venice - Anderson .Paak
Noble Beast - Andrew Bird
Madman Across The Water - Elton John
Wish You Were Here and Meddle - Pink Floyd
and others

My favorite movie is Superbad

I recently read The New Jim Crow for a class and it had an enormous impact on how I think about incarcerated people.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I got my scuba certification in Cairns, Australia. We were on the reef for 3 days and I was able to do 9 dives out there, including a night dive and a dive down to 30m. Night dives are insane. I felt like I was in a video game.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm not really sure what this section means

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories, a fun presence, help with dishes? (I've never done this before so I'm not sure specifically what to say, but I'm very down to help out)

I'll bring you a gift!
