Hello, I'm Max! :)
I'm a creative and outdoorsy queer. I read and write, paint and look at clouds. I walk, bike, climb and ski. I grew up sailing in Stockholm's archipelago and this is also where I learned to love the radio weather forecasts – now I read the very same forecasts for a living. I work as a meteorologist at the Swedish institute of meteorology and hydrology.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've not really seen much of the world, I'm quite comfortable (one of my closest friends suggested I might be a hobbit and I think he's right). But I do want adventures in my life (I'm Bilbo?)! I'm here because travelling by couch means doing something I'm a bit scared of. In short, I'm here to live. And to meet you ;)

Music, Movies, and Books

I don't really believe in favourites, but the classics I love are of Jane Austen, Mary Anne Evans, Virginia Woolf, Rainer Maria Rilke. More modern works I have in my bookshelf are Jeanette Winterson, Toni Morrison, Liv Strömqvist, Wislawa Szymborska and Bodil Malmsten. Gavin Pretor-Pinneys books on clouds are wonderful.

I play the ukulele (not very well, just like Amanda Palmer suggests you should in Ukulele Anthem). I don't know much about music, but I enjoy it.

My guilty pleasure is romcoms. (Rewatched The Proposal and thought it wasn't awful.)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I acted in a so-called 'spex' at university because it scared me. ('Spex' is typical student culture in Sweden, a bold combination of improv and musical, commonly based on historical persons or events – in this case Charles Darwin.)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can present the weather for you (only in Swedish though, so it might be useless). I can also paint and sketch! Maybe I could paint/sketch a portrait of you? Or a beautiful place nearby?
