ABOUT ME

I am originally from Cleveland, Ohio, now living in Jakarta. I have spent some time living in Brussels, Belgium, Thies, Senegal and Chiang Mai, Thailand. My favorite thing to do is just wander aimlessly around a new city. I enjoy going to concerts and movie theaters. My favorite foods I've had while traveling in foreign countries include horse meat from a small chateau in France, goat meat from a filing cabinet on the streets of Dakar, and dog meat in the finest establishments of Hanoi. Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Oldboy, Withnail and I, Rise of Planet of the Apes, and Planet of the Apes. I also like the remake to Planet of the Apes.

Music: Prince, Cut Copy, The Dandy Warhols, The Brian Jonestown Massacre and the soundtrack from Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

Books: Dune, Meditations on First Philosophy, Trainspotting, Petals of Blood, and will soon be reading Planet of the Apes.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once took a 50 hour bus ride from Dakar to Bamako in the middle of July. It was advertised as a 20 hour bus ride on a brand new air conditioned bus. When I showed up at the station it was a dilapidated bus with no air conditioning. Other highlights of that trip included three flat tires, changing buses so we could drive through a river over a washed out bridge, and sleeping on the ground outside the border crossing because the border guards had gone home.
