I'm a student at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, studying biology. My dream is to become a cardiothoracic surgeon.

I love being alive. My entire personal philosophy is based on that. I have values, which are the source of my desire to live, and the things that I want to spend my life achieving.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe that we have an obligation to work toward creating the kind of world we want to live in.
I want to live in a world with less disease and less poverty.

Books: The Count of Monte Cristo, Dracula, Cyrano de Bergerac, The Lord of the Rings, A Song of Ice and Fire, Mountains Beyond Mountains

Music: My favorite band is probably Sigur Ros, but I listen to everything. I have found talented artists that create beautiful music in just about every genre.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent a semester studying and volunteering in the Dominican Republic. It was a wonderful experience that I will never forget. It was so mostly because of the people I met and worked with. I volunteered in a preschool in a community of Haitian immigrants amidst the most dire poverty I have ever witnessed. That experience has changed my life irrevocably. Getting to share some small part of the struggle of those people was one of the most humanizing things I've ever done, but it also stirred a kind of anger and sadness within me, that human beings should have to live in such conditions. I want to be part of the effort to liberate people from the oppression of poverty.
