About Me

Currently NOT hosting anyone since I'm renovating the house (in order to welcome all of you afterwards in our beautiful palace!)

**********PLEASE READ THIS FIRST:**********
On Couchsurfing, I use a policy which I like to call the 'COPY PASTE REQUEST = COPY PASTE REPLY' policy. Since I get a shitload of requests and unfortunately I cannot host all of you awesome people, I have to be critical. I take the time to read your request, so I expect you to have checked out my profile as well. Makes sense, right? Therefore I put a random rhyming phrase somewhere below, which I want you to mention in your request. Please explain to me WHY you want to stay with ME and WHY I should host YOU! Also, in case you're surfing together make sure you include a link of your friend's profile as well. Please hold onto these rules as otherwise you'll be getting back a message just as impersonal :-) Most times I work during the day so I'm not your host when it comes to sightseeing, but at night I can be all yours though!

Have a good one :)

**********DATES I'M NOT ABLE TO HOST FOR SURE**********

▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄ CURRENT MISSION▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄

Spring 2018: founded my own event agency

Summer 2018: graduated my bachelors in Event Management

2018-2019: organising some parties and events while saving money

2020: backpacking in Australia

▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄ ABOUT ME▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄

'Sup! The name's Maxim, but feel free to say Max. I'm from a place of tulips, OG Kush, prostitution and awesome people: Amsterdam! So, what else is there to tell about myself?

I would consider myself as that type of guy who everyone could get along with. Not in a cocky way, but I just love to have a little chat with anyone about anything. But be prepared, as most of the time some very lame jokes come with that. Furthermore, I'm deeply in love .....with music. I can't simply live without as I listen to it every day. I rarely have a bad day, but when I do have one it's probably because my iPod is out of battery.

Furthermore, I've done a bachelors in Event Management. I've lived one semester in Sweden as an exchange student; probably my best decision in life so far! I can't describe how amazing this experience has been, I just loved it and still think about it every day. Last year I was living in Barcelona, where I worked as a party promoter on the beach during the day and guide folks around at night to ensure party people had an awesome time in this beautiful city. Now I work as a freelance Event Manager / Tour Guide at my own event agency here in Amsterdam. Year 2020: backpacking around in Australia, baby!

Furthermore REALLY into techno gigs and raves, if you are too that's a big plus and I'm sure an epic time awaits us... If not no worries, plenty of cool bars around where we can have a chit chat and chill out for a bit.

So listen up! I came up with this thought I’d like to call: the ‘Party Theory’. You see, I think life is actually one big festival consisting of all kinds of parties. When you’re hanging around with your friends and have a good time; isn’t that actually some kind of a party? And what about that cup of coffee in the morning? Yeah, I’d like to call that a party too. Or that feeling when you haven’t done shit for that exam but by some kinda miracle still passed it? Party. Bottom line: I believe there are many moments in life which could be considered as 'party moments', but most of us just don't realise it as we are all too busy focusing on the 'main act, the end show'; the bigger goals in life. My suggestion? Also realise and celebrate those little party moments. But most importantly: keep on celebrating, people!

Oh and I believe this is also the part where I can drop my favourite quote, so here you go:

"The world is what YOU think of it, so think DIFFERENTLY and your life will change." - Paul Arden

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I believe that every individual on this planet adds his/her own personal value to the world due to his/her cultural influences and personal ideas. Why wouldn't I try to get a taste of as many as I can and exchange them for my own?

-the gnome pooped his pants so he had to change his plans-

Movies: I don't really have a favourite movie. I just like those thrillers where you have to use your brain to figure out what happend. Furthermore I'm always up for a comedy. Especially when Jim Carrey is in it. Oh yeah. Or Ricky Gervais for the dark souls among us.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Pff yeah right, like life let's you just do one amazing thing... Here's a bunch of crazy shit:

☃ Drinking and partying for 6 nights in a row with 15 hours of sleep in total in St. Petersburg (..I'd call it Russian integration)

☃ Throwing my birthday party with 26 people in my studio of 20m2 (check my pictures, it was cosy as fuck)

☃ Hosting 4 Italian couch surfers (plus myself) in my 20m2 studio (again; check my pictures ..and yes; that was also cosy as fuck)

☃ Dragging a couch through a Swedish university at 2AM and crash in a random class room (call that couch surfing, hehe)

☃ Couchsurfing in Vienna, waking up the next day ready to explore the city but then getting invited by the host's girlfriend to join her and her pilot friend in his little airplane to fly over the Austrian mountains to have lunch in Ljubljana, Slovenia (true story)

☃ Going alone to festivals and meet the most interesting people I still talk to today!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can tell you the TRUTH about us Dutchies (a small giveaway: yes, prostitutes also have to pay taxes and no, you cannot buy XTC in stores). And I like to make drinks (ever made a PERFECT Mojito, ladies and gentlemen?)

What I Can Share with Hosts

If you host me or you crash at my spot, I can teach you some Dutch (although it does not make sense at all). Furthermore I always have my music library with me, including some really awesome stuff. I love to listen and exchange music with my fellow travelers! Eventually you'll have some new songs to take with you, like souvenirs :)
