ABOUT ME
Well this part's hard - it's like a job interview...
I'm 18 years old and from Melbourne, Australia. I work in a community health service, and I study Politics at RMIT university.
I love to learn - this is what originally attracted me to travel. School was a pleasure for me, as almost every day I was presented with something new. Travel recreates this experience in an interactive manner with far more freedom to boot. A dream.
I deeply love sport - I play Australian Rules Football at a reasonable level of competition. A fair bit of my time over the last coupke of years has been spent training and/or playing at a competetive level, so it has become a fairly intrinsic part of who I am.
I laugh easily, and am rarely upset for long. I can't hold a grudge. I consider myself extremely lucky to be where I am, and I try not to overconsume, as this so often comes at the expense of those less fortunate.
PHILOSOPHY
Iv'e had plenty handed to me, so it's my responsibility to do something with it. I would love to change some small thing about the world before I die.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Only surfing, but absolutely loving it! Will be sure to give hosting a shot when I get home.
Interests
I'm a dedicated traveler. Since I've started this trip, I've felt that it's life's true calling. I love the freedom it gives, and the experiences it provides. Naturally, this is an interest of mine.
As above, sport; specifically Aussie Rules, cricket, and football.
I study politics, but my true academic passion is for history, closely followed by physics. My favourite thing ever studied was the Russian Revolution of 1917.
My passion is the environment - I hope I'll soon find work in campaigning to protect it. This is the root of my interest in politics; I feel as if I need to understand the system more fully if I am to influence it.
I've been cultivating an interest in computers. Before I left home, I had my first crack at building my own machine.

Music, Movies, and Books
Read Tolstoy's War and Peace as I traversed Russia, which blew my mind.
The Other Hand by Chris Cleave is another recent read that broke my heart.
As a kid I always loved fantasy - will always remember series' like LotR, His Dark Materials, etc.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Traveling overland from Shanghai to Casablanca. Actually I'm currently en route, but having absolutely the time of my life. Climbing mountains and cranes in China, crossing the Gobi desert, swimming in Lake Baikal, experiencing the solitude of the Trans-Siberian, discovering how beautiful cities can be in St Petersburg and Budapest, consuming absurd amounts of beer in Germany, and most of all meeting and making all manners of friends. This is living!
Teach, Learn, Share
Local Melbounian knowledge - especially how to drink on the cheap!
Perhaps some history/politics knowledge - but this is mostly subjetive. Would class it as more of a conversation topic than specialist knowledge.
How to play Aussie Rules! (You'll love it).
