About Me

Hi there!

My name is Maxime, I'm 22 years old and I live in the Netherlands. I still live at my parents house together with my younger sister and my dog :) When I get my diploma I want to find a job and move out immediately. I have a boyfriend for 4,5 years now, so we'll probably find a nice place for the two of us!

So I'm studying to become a primary school teacher. I should be done in about 1,5 year. Since there is a large demand for teachers in the Netherland, I'll probably find a job quite easy. But when I do, I wont have that much time to travel. All of my friends are kind of in the same situation I am in now. So therefore we decided to travel around America this year before we all have to start with our future jobs..

Travelling is also one of my greatest passions. As a child I got lucky because my parents also like to travel. So I've seen quite some countries in Europe already. But I've never been outside of Europe. So my wishes are to travel to the rest of the world.. Starting with America!

I have a really close group of friends. Unfortunately not all of them could manage to go on this trip. So therefore I'm going together with my boyfriend and three other boys. I have two older brothers, so I've always been that girl who also likes those 'boys things'. So I really don't mind going on a trip with only boys. This is gonna be the fifth time I'm going on a trip with only boys actually. My friends and I also love to go skiing and snowboarding, so we've been to Austria three times already. But this year we thought it's time for something different!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

So since we are a really adventurous and social group, we thought it would be nice to meet new people. We are going to travel through America for 4,5 weeks from the beginning of juli. We are hiring a camper and travel through a few national Parks and cities. But before we can do that we need a place to sleep when we arrive at Los Angeles and the day before we are flying back home from Salt Lake City. One of my friends came across this website and showed it to the rest of the group and we were all pretty excited about it. It's just that little more adventure we can add to our trip! And since most of us have never been in America it is also nice to get a few tips from the locals!

I think it would be great fun to accept guests into my house, except I don't feel like I'm in the right position now to do so. Since I still live at my parents house first of all.. Second I'm also very busy studying and following an internship. And I'm also working in the weekends to save money for my trip.

Music, Movies, and Books

Hmmmm.. my favourite music? Every time I get that question I don't really quite know what to answer actually. There are just so many artist with all different styles. It also depends on how I'm feeling and in what kind of situation I am to decide what to listen. But to give you an impression: I used to be a real fan of rockbands like Linkin Park, The Red Hot Chili Pepper and The Foo Fighters. I've seen them all on a concert actually! I also like artists as Ed Sheeran and Adele. As a child I really liked pop artists like Beyoncé, Ne-yo and Rihanna. So I do like to listen to pop music every now and then. But about two years ago I discovered a new genre: Drum and Bass. My boyfriend also started to make d&b music. So me and my friends are going to a lot of d&b parties lately. I love the artist Fred V & Grafix!

My favourite three movies of all time are ofcourse from the Lord of the Rings triology! I can watch them again and again and again and the will never bore me!

After I watched the first movie I got really interested in the work of Tolkien so I read a few of his books. That's how the Hobbit has become my favourite book :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I flew a plane! A really small one, but still really amazing in my opinion. Of course the pilot did the take off and the landing part. Otherwise I would have crashed the plane I guess.. But once in the air, I took the controls and actually flew the plane! It was a little bit scary, but most of all really cool! So I would recommend you to do it as well sometime!
