About Me

I'm a freelance programmer, a reformed introverted gaming addict, trying his best to live an enjoyable and authentic life.

PHILOSOPHY:

"Plant
So that your own heart will
Grow.

Sing
Because this is a food
Our starving world
Needs.

Laugh
Because that is the purest
Sound."

Feel your emotions, take care of yourself, work hard, think clearly. Grow, enjoy life, help and empower others to do the same.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Interstates, corporate hotels, Wal-Marts... to me, these things are sterile and inhumane. Give me the old highways, the broken-in homes, the local grocers, where real humanity still lives and breathes.

I'm interested in conversation, sharing culture, making connections, goofing off, deepening my experience of my world and people. And uh, saving money 😁

Music, Movies, and Books

My most-listened to albums are probably "Get to Heaven" by Everything Everything, "Windswept Adan" by Ichiko Aoba, and "Chet Baker Sings" by... Chet Baker.

Some favorite films are Office Space, American Psycho, Breakfast Club, Everything Everywhere All at Once, The African Queen, Roman Holiday, The Lady Vanishes. I'm also into well-animated stuff like Akira, The Thief and the Cobbler, Porco Rosso, Tokyo Godfathers.

Most-read book is either Catcher in the Rye or the Narnia series. I have a SUPER cool copy of Thus Spake Zarathustra that I dip into a lot but have never read front-to-back... Some favorite authors are C.S. Lewis, Asimov, Kafka, Dostoevsky... Big fan of Calvin & Hobbes 😊

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I took a 10-day silent meditation retreat where I meditated for around 11 hours per day, hitchhiked from New Orleans to the west coast, worked on a chicken farm, lived in a monastery in Nepal, all in one trip.

I've seen a homeless man offer the only food he had to someone else in need.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can cook, program, clean, give book/music/film/youtube recommendations, I can teach you how to make authentic New Orleans food, I can introduce you to yoga, music theory, motorcycle riding...

I'm a bright and curious student who'd be happy to learn whatever you have to teach.

Let's talk about our childhoods 👀
