I've spent a month in the Oregon back-county near Crater Lake fixing trails 10 miles from the nearest dirt road. It was the most beautiful time in my life. During those nights the noisiest thing in the woods was my heart beating within my sleeping bag, and my farts (which may have been partly responsible for the northern lights during that time of the year).
