ABOUT ME

I'm a freelance web mercenary in Chicago, mostly working for ad agencies and the like, though I've worked for more startups than I'd care to admit at this point. I grew up in the down and dirty south of the US but I'd scarcely call myself a good ol' boy, being brought up by New Yorker parents. In my free time photography is my favourite creative outlet, but I draw (poorly) sometimes, too. I also love music (all kinds) and architecture (all kinds), and enjoy exploring these throughout the world when I can.

PHILOSOPHY

Just that I want to live an interesting life. I don't ever want to utter the phrase "I should have..." or "I would have, except...", because I know I'm only here on this world for a very short time, and the world will keep spinning just fine without me someday. I have to enjoy it all, and I enjoy life best when I'm among good people, doing interesting things.

The Universe is such an interesting and beautiful place. How could I possibly fail to enjoy it?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

For right now I'm new at this and I'm just surfing, but back in Chicago I have a couch I'd like to share and I'm almost always available for coffee or a couple of beers. I love meeting new people and I live in the most ethnically diverse neighbourhood in the US, so cultural exchange isn't a new thing for me.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Every time I go back to the San Francisco bay area in California, I usually stay on a friend's couch, but I'd hardly call that relevant couchsurfing experience.

Maybe when I get back to the States from this trip I'll have good stories to put here (I hope!).

Music, Movies, and Books

All kinds of music, but leaning slightly towards punk rock, surf rock, hip hop. Movies and books I'm all over the place too but I am currently reading _Against the Day_ by Thomas Pynchon and I feel like I will be forever because it's just so long and so dense; really excellent though. I like media that inspires thought and makes you imagine something you never thought of or question something you thought you knew well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I came within a few hundred thousand points of setting a world record at Tetris; I'm presently third in the world.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love teaching other people about photography whenever it's asked of me, and I guess in a pinch I could give some decent tips about playing pool. Other than that I have a wide variety of nerdy skills like soldering and programming. Could probably help someone with some math homework if they've got any to do.

I'd love to learn more about... well, anything really.
