About Me

Im 25, have worked as a chef for 7 years and used to give private guitar lessons. I am a vegetarian without being too strict about it, but love organic locally produced food. I have traveled through much of the United States, but have only been outside of the country once, and am excited to see what the world has to offer. I strive to be the positive light in my own life and to brighten up anyone's day whom I come into contact with.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Music, Movies, and Books

I love jazz, classical, folk, rock and bluegrass music. Artists I love are Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, Radiohead, Miles Davis, Ray Charles, Mozart, Bach, Charles Mingus, Greensky Bluegrass, The Whitest Boy Alive, and many more. My favorite movies are comedies but I love any genre- including The Big Lebowski, Dances with Wolves, Bowfinger, Anchorman, One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest, and Jurassic Park. My favorite books are Infinite Jest, the Sun also Rises, The Unbearable Lightness of Being, and The Sirens of Titan. I really love fiction and poetry, and nonfiction books - mostly history or astronomy. I love the authors David Foster Wallace, Nabokov, Raymond Carver, Hemingway, Rimbaud, Neruda, Haavikko, and Bukowski.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Drove across the United States on a road trip with my family.

Paddle boarding on Waikiki Beach in Hawai'i.

Did acrobatics in a biplane in Massachusettes.

Was sous chef in a fine dining kitchen for two years in Cincinnati.

Climbed cathedral peak in Santa Barbara solo and had lunch on the top.

I invented the program at my high school for students to graduate early so that we could graduate at age 16 without getting a GED, but receiving a real diploma.

Rode horses into the Andes and played guitar with gauchos in Argentina.

White water rafted the Rogue river in Oregon.

Watched a meteor shower in Florida with my girlfriend on her birthday.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share my love of cooking and good fresh food. I can share music and teach how to play guitar, and I can share good laughs and corny jokes. I would love to learn anything about art, gardening/farming, culture, language, business, carpentry/building, and traveling.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am traveling through Europe this autumn with my girlfriend Maggie Brown (Look at her profile too!) and we are hoping to meet fun and interesting hosts who can show us all that their city has to offer!
