About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Get out of my shell and see the world
ABOUT ME
I'm a laid back guy who's main goal in life is to see / do as much as possible. I'm open to just about anything, but especially open to outdoor adventures and good company. I like to laugh and play, and if given the opportunity I will not take myself seriously at all. I love exercising and learning new things, and doing things that I thought I'd never do. I'm very sentimental, nostalgic, romantic, and polite.
PHILOSOPHY
My life is absent of religion. I believe that life's purpose is to see things, experience things, to grow closer to my fellow human beings, to grow to understand them and to understand myself. To do no harm. To grow and to wander. And of course, to laugh and cry and feel.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Right now I'm kind of homeless haha, so I can't host anybody. I'm about to embark on my first trip around the world, after quitting my job of the last 12 years, so very excited for that, and looking forward to meeting plenty of new people along the way!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've had a great time couchsurfing, though my last experience was several years ago. It's just so great meeting people in different areas, spending time with them and realizing that we aren't so different after all.
Interests
Crossfit, hiking, swimming, biking, running. Reading, writing, drinking coffee, beer, and whiskey, listening to music, driving, taking pictures, playing with my dogs. Video games (though I'm trying to wean myself off), movies, shows.

Music, Movies, and Books
I listen to a broad range of music, including classical, trance, rock, alternative, industrial, a little rap, no country. I am very open to others' musical tastes, though, and generally enjoy whatever I'm hearing.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Packed my bags and went to Germany for two weeks during Christmas break with my two best friends and no plan.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can point people to a lot of good Japanese-learning resources, and I can help proofread papers written in English. I have a good grasp on diet and exercise information, especially crossfit (though I'm not certified), but also weightlifting and running. I would love to learn language (any language other than English), cuisine (I love to cook!), any local customs, whatever!
I can also share my experience living in Japan for two and a half years, and travelling to the various places I've been around the world.
