Overview
About Me
Hi there, it's Maya, I'm a 23 yo Italian girl. I study psychology in university and I work online as a manager for a winery. I love to travel and I'm currently living in Sri Lanka between Weligama and Kandy, where I volunteer in a school with kids. I travel on a budget and love to meet local people, try new food and get to know the culture of a country.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
This is one of the best ways to know local people and learn about the country you're visiting. I also use worldpackers and volunteer there, but I guess this is another good way to find people and connect even more.
Interests
I love to explore places I visit, hikings, be immersed in nature, connect with other people, staying in hostels etc. I always chase water, so I love to be by the sea, as I was born 1 minute by walk from the beach myself.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love jazz, soul, blues, rock, but also techno music when I want to hang out. I love to read, especially novels and I tend to read one book per week (not while traveling tbh). I also love movies and series TV, my favorite director is Clint Eastwood and my favorite movie is Reservoir Dogs.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've seen and done many, but one of the most amazing experiences I've had was when I hiked a volcano in Indonesia, I woke up at midnight and started the hike. It was truly breathtaking.
Another thing was a road trip along the coastline of France and Spain, sleeping in a car.
Oh and how could I forget when I hitchhiked in Vietnam all the way from North to South.
Teach, Learn, Share
I want to learn about new cultures, experiences, food, life lessons, and I can teach and share my knowledge about Italian culture, but also Irish one cause I lived there for a year. I just love deep convos and learn from other people, not necessarily local ones but also other like minded travelers.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can offer you good talks, laughing together, some good company and sharing experiences and knowledge about stuff. Honestly I'm just a very chill person so whatever you're up to, I'm in.
I already hosted foreigners I met in Genoa but I just invited them after I met them on a train.
