About Me
Curious, mindful, analytical minimalist, Alaskan, commercial fisherman, former butcher, aspiring midwife, and someday farmer.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My family and I started hosting CouchSurfers in 2008 while on sabbatical in Granada, Spain. Since that time, I've had the pleasure of staying with former guests in Paris, being hosted on short notice during the "polar votex" in January in Kentucky, learning how to cook krautnudeln from a German masseuse back home in Alaska, and being able to connect friends with friends on the other side of the world. I love the personal and always unique connections that being hosted by strangers in a strange place affords, and it's been my experience that maintaining those connections throughout time and space is what makes Couchsurfing so special.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I'm proud to say that I've been paid to do three of the most amazing things I can think of that I've done: catching a baby, surviving a season as the skiff man on a limit seiner, and learning how to break down a whole side of beef. I only hope I can continue on that trajectory of loving the work I do!
