Overview
About Me
I'm a 23-year-old mixed girl from California who loves strangers and strangeness. I'm going to MIT in the fall to study the social, political, and ethical dimensions of technology (well, technically the program is called Comparative Media Studies). I'm into graphic design, but for work I try to do mostly user experience and interaction design (i.e. designing how people interact with software). I'm into demarginalizing marginalized people, and afrofuturism.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I really like strangers. Some of the best people I've ever met have been through couchsurfing or other stranger meeting websites like the rideshares section of craigslist. I also like showing people around cities! It can really help when you start to get jaded and forget how great the place is. I'm not a local by any stretch of the imagination (I moved here in March 2015), but I have managed to find many great activities and places.
Also, my boyfriend and friends and I are visiting Iceland in August! We would like to meet people there and to have places to stay out of the rain.
Interests
I like blood, sex, exploring, rock climbing, warm weather, tumblr, baths, homemade spa days, and drawing pictures of people (they're not that good, so don't get your hopes up).

Music, Movies, and Books
I love such a wide variety of music. Jorge Ben (samba), Shabazz Palaces (spooky alternative hip hop), Beyoncé (really, you've never heard of Beyoncé?), Debussy, The Magnetic Fields, Nicki Minaj, and Lullatone, off the top of my head. My boyfriend is a jazz drummer.
I'm not sure what my favorite books are, but right now (6/22/15) I'm reading Fledgling by Octavia Butler, Phantasmal Media by Fox Harrell, Informing the News by Thomas Patterson, the Psychology of Consciousness by G. William Farthing, and Black Feminist Thought by Patricia Hill Collins. I have the terrible habit of starting several books, getting 30% through, and then getting distracted and never finishing. Awful.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
When I lived in Santa Cruz, CA (for school), we took one of our couchsurfers down to Big Sur, where there is a Buddhist retreat that has hot springs open to the public only from 1-3am. The tubs are perched on the cliffs overlooking the ocean, and everyone there was naked and silent. There was a full moon, and we soaked in the tubs and stared out at the sea.
Teach, Learn, Share
I know stuff about the internet! I can maybe teach you things about that. I also know how to make a great homemade spa day with foot soaks, facial scubs, nail polish, you name it.
