About Me

I love learning new things and exploring. I spend us much time as I possibly can reading and listening to podcasts. I also love sharing what I have learned with others. I also am happiest when I am in motion, so I love walking and biking. My favorite weekend activity is gathering my friends for a potluck. I love when I am able to forge new connections between friends.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I grew up in a home that often had exchange students from around the world. I believe in the value of sharing one's cultural experience and learning from others. My partner, Russell, and I recently bought a house in Charles Village, Baltimore, so we are able to give back to those who have hosted us. We would love to host surfers on our couch.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I truly appreciate all genres. I am a sucker for pop as well as lesser known bands and musical acts. Stand out favorites over the years are St. Vincent, Beyonce, Dirty Projectors, Juanes, Taylor Swift, Chris Thile, and Julieta Venegas.

Movies: I try and see as many movies as I can! I am particularly into biographical documentaries lately --particular favorites have been about Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg (RBG), Mr. Rogers (Won't You Be My Neighbor?), Jean-Michel Basquiat (Boom For Real: The Teenage Years of Jean-Michel Basquiat), and the artist MIA (MATANGI/MAYA/MIA).

Books: Recent favorites include The Perfect Nanny, The Cooking Gene: A Journey Through African American Culinary History in the Old South, Americanah, and Too Much and Not The Mood.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I hiked the Pacific Crest Trail, which runs from the U.S. border with Mexico to the U.S. border with Canada. So many beautiful landscapes to see that are mainly accessible through hiking.

Teach, Learn, Share

My partner and I have a great interest in local agriculture. We would like to open a bakery that uses local grains for bread and pastry, so we have a lot to share about bread making, cooking, and food preserving.
