About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Visiting all the continents at least once, preferably live/work there for a while.
Oh, and maybe get my psychology degree as well.

ABOUT ME

I like to live by the motto that spontanious actions are usually the best, therefore if you come up with an insane, stupid, and/or adventurous idea, I'll probably do it.

I like to experience new things, get to know other cultures and see the world. I love meeting new people and as long as you're a good, friendly, open-minded person, chances are I will like you.

I want to be inspired by others as much as I would like others to be inspired by me. Give and take.

But most of all, I just want to have a good time in life!

PHILOSOPHY

"If most of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold it would be a merrier world" - J.R.R Tolkien

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Uptil now, I have only surfed (and loved it). I want to try to host people from this year on. That is, if my crappy student house allows it and my landlord won't find out.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far, I've couchsurfed in Berlin, Luxembourg and Antwerp. Currently, I'm preparing for a new trip where me and a friend will hitchhike from Barcelona back to Groningen. During which we will also couchsurf (if you happen to live on our route, let me know, we could meet up!)

Interests

I like music, a lot. Listening to it, making it, any form of it. I try to play the guitar and the piano, sometimes I manage. I love to meet up with people and just jam a bit. Also, dancing to it can be fun. If only I could dance.

Another thing I enjoy is cooking. Especially together with other people. Trying out new stuff or trying to make something fancy out of leftovers. I enjoy food in general, but good food in particular.

I'm also in to sports from time to time. I really enjoy playing basketball. Otherwise, I'm always up for a fun game of tennis, squash, soccer, or any other sport really. In the future, I would love to learn how to surf.

And ofcourse there is travelling. I love to travel. I haven't done it as much as I would have liked, but the times I was lucky enough to do so, I have made some pretty good memories. Which only inspired me to travel more and more and more (etc.)

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies and books, there are so many of them to choose from. These are some that really stuck with me.

Movies: Garden State, Wish I Was Here, Into the Wild, Across the Universe, Amélie, Forrest Gump, 127 hours, Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings (but the books are better for both).

Tv-series: Scrubs, Breaking Bad, Community, House, Friends, Pretty Little Liars, Hannibal, How I Met Your Mother, The Office, Parks and Recreation, 30Rock.

Books: Harry Potter series (duh), Lord of the Rings series, Looking for Alaska, many more that I forget to mention.

Music: The Shins, The Beatles, Joshua Radin, Fleetwood Mac, The Sea and Cake, Bomaby Bicyle Club, Eddie Vedder, Bon Iver, Junip, Iron and Wine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, HAIM.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

--> going to the United States, making friends for life
--> visiting Uganda to do volunteer work
>It brought me back to basics
>opened my eyes
>put my life in perspective
--> hitchhike throughout Europe
--> organizing some awesome events and projects
> benefit concert
> lesson marathon
> international basketball tournament
--> going on some pretty cool roadtrips
--> meeting many incredible people
--> having some amazing close friends

Teach, Learn, Share

I don't have much to teach people yet, but I'm hoping, willing and eager to learn. I want to learn about people's way of living, their view upon the world, their philosophy, their culture, language, music and much more. And I hope that, in the future, after hearing and absorbing everyone's stories, I'll be wise enough to be a teacher myself, more than a student.
