About Me
Hello!
My name is Mayowa. I graduated this year (2016) in May and shortly came to Japan thereafter in the middle of June. My parents are from Nigeria, but I was born in Fort Worth, Texas (close to Dallas), and I went to college in Oklahoma. Oklahoma State University specifically. My majors were biological science and biochemistry. I was planning on studying abroad in Japan for one year my fourth year in college, but things didn't work out. Instead, I started studying Japanese my senior year and decided to teach in Japan afterwards. In 2017 or 2018, I plan on entering graduate school. Hopefully abroad!
I'm also a pretty big sports fan in general! I love watching and playing soccer! The time zone makes games harder to watch, but I also like watching basketball, football, and tennis.
Music is another thing I love! I started playing clarinet in 6th grade and continued all the way until my last year in college, participating in marching band. Unfortunately, my luggage was to heavy, so I had to leave my clarinet at the airport with my mom :(
Anyways, feel free to contact me! Looking forward to meeting you!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I would love to make new friends from different backgrounds and cultures from my own!
"Life is short, break the rules, forgive quickly, kiss slowly, love truly, laugh uncontrollably, and never regret anything that made you smile. Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." ― Mark Twain
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I had a week off during Obon and went on an amazing trip. I visited Fukuoka, Taipei, Ho Chi Minh City, Osaka, Kyoto, and Nara. Overall, it was an amazing experience and I also got to meet up with international students I met in college in their respective countries.
