ABOUT ME

I grew up in the midwest US and did the same thing as everyone else I knew. Went to college, got a finance degree and a job doing accounting. Then I realized this is terrible, so I packed my things, moved to the Caribbean and became a dive instructor. I took a 500% paycut but managed to have a balcony looking at the Caribbean sea so I must have done something right. Now I'm going around the world looking for an island I don't want to leave. I'm currently really enjoying living in Ko Tao and spending my days working as a dive instructor and nights working in a chilled out bar.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Just learned about the website this year but I've been surfing and hosting ever since I left the states 4 years ago. It's the only way I survived when I first started teaching diving. I love the idea and want to help everyone else get to do the things I do everyday.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

When I first moved to the Caribbean I met 2 guys in a bar that offered me their couch because I couldn't afford my own place yet. We had such a good time that I ended up staying for a couple month's until the lease ran out. We are now all great friends and I couldn't have made it there without them. After that, every new person that came to the island was welcome to stay with me and I know I helped at least a few people the same way. Now that I'm in Ko Tao I've been hosting people almost non-stop for most of the last year and have had nothing but great experiences.

Intereses

The sun and anything on the water. Scuba diving, fishing, sailing, driving boats, lobstering. Riding big motorcycles through the mountains. Cheap drinks, good friends, pink vespas, and monkeys are pretty awesome.

Done: Drove huge motorcycles 700 kilometers through the mountains and Jungles of northern Thailand with a few of my friends.

Seen: A billion little silversides swimming around me in a cave 15 meters underwater. So many fish that you can only see about a meter and bumping into other big fish that are darting through trying to get an easy meal.
