About Me

Finally in Prague! Got here the first week of August.
After a break from travel, I'm finally ready for my next adventure: European Edition! My more recent adventures include a working holiday in New Zealand after finishing a working holiday in Australia.... after teaching English in Japan. I've been a little all over the place the last few years...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Travel has pretty much been my focus the last few years. It's been a really great time traveling on my own. I think everyone should try it at some point.
I've mostly stayed in hostels (for months in some cases), but I rarely met locals that way.
I'm hoping to meet people who really know the areas I visit while in Europe.

Interests

Traveling, singing, talking to strangers, finding humor in random things.
I seriously love to laugh. It's my favorite.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: I like anything that touches my mind, my heart, and/or appeals to my sense of humor... I'm also a sucker for Indie stuff...
Some examples of favorites (I'm really bad at narrowing these down): Amelie, Away We Go, Casablanca, Closer, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Forrest Gump, Frida, Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle, Juno, Labyrinth, L'Auberge Espagnole, Liberty Heights, Lost in Translation, Pulp Fiction, Little Miss Sunshine, Saved, The Secret of Roan Inish, Shopgirl, Singles, Sound of Music, Stranger Than Fiction, To Wong Foo, 200 Cigarrettes, Waiting, When Harry Met Sally... Also, Anything Wes Anderson or Coen Brothers.

Some favourite books: I Know This Much Is True, Like Water for Chocolate, White Oleander, The Poisonwood Bible, The Stranger, Life of Pi.
Favourite authors recently: I've liked everything I've read by Palahniuk, David Sedaris, Augusten Burroughs, and Jeffrey Eugenides.

Podcasts: I try to keep up with Savage Love, Bill Maher, and some NPR podcasts (particularly This American Life).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiked Mt. Fuji... twice... within two weeks.

...this is less amazing and more just ill-advised.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Bahamas, Canada, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Mexico, North Korea, Slovakia, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

Australia, Czech Republic, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, United States
