Overview
About Me
Hi, world. I am a very friendly, respectful guy who loves to visit new places and meet great new people! I spend my days working on music and consulting on various audio things. My wife and I have lived in San Francisco for 8 years now and super love the Bay Area! Recent travels include London and Cambridge in the UK, Mexico, Minneapolis, Los Angeles, and coming this year, Vancouver and the Philippines! I volunteer in mentoring programs and advocacy groups for musicians and underserved communities and constantly try to learn how to do more good in the world. I try to stay healthy outside of the amount of pizza and tacos I stumble upon and love hiking and exploring. I love good coffee and tend to explore thrift shops for weird old audio gear or funky music-making devices. I tend to build my own instruments or music controllers for use acoustically or with a computer to make sound and/or music. I love good conversations about life or philosophy. I'm a student of the world and the people in it! I support diversity and underserved communities and celebrate gratitude! Yes, I have a mohawk but I'm the least scary guy I know :-D
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My wife and I explore new places together or individually, either for adventure or work. Sometimes I need a hotel, campground, or sofa to catch some zzz's and shower before the next day of adventure. Couchsurfing sounds like a great way to do both and meet some really cool people on the road! I'm a generous guy and like sharing info about places and things I like with other people!

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: I love a LOT of styles of music. Some faves are Bjork, Amon Tobin, Imogen Heap, Shostakovich, Sons of the Pioneers, Tool, Hecq, Prince, Big Band stuff, folk music from other countries, Ranchera music and lots of Mexican music, Aphex Twin, Bon Iver, some jazz, rock, funk, indie, etc.
Movies: I like sci-fi a good bit, especially ones with freaky technology. I also like movies like Being John Malkovich, Punch Drunk Love, comedies, documentaries like I Am, foreign films, and more
Books: Most of the books I read these days are owner's manuals haha
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Well, definitely marrying my wife, Kariz! She's the BEST!! It seems everyone else loves her, too. She is riding her bike 545 miles in just 7 days from SF to LA tomorrow to raise money for AIDS research! This is her second year doing this ride and raising nearly $10,000 personally to contribute.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can share or teach a lot about audio, music, and sound design as I've been doing it professionally most of my life. I've played in bands, run a couple of professional recording studios in LA, produced a lot of records, composed lots for tv, game, films, and other things and have taught/spoken at workshops and seminars.
I love to learn most anything! I am really interested in how people work on keeping compassion at the front of their conversations and reactions to things in the world.

I can also fix some things around the house, sometimes electronic things, but can't really guarantee any of it haha. Sometimes I can contribute to dinner or lunch, too.
I can share perspective on any personal dilemmas or troubles from a compassionate point of view or just listen.
