ABOUT ME

I like having fun and being respectful.

My first name is McKinley, it's a family name, and I have a whole range of nicknames but mostly I just go by McKinley.

That's not all, but all for now.

PHILOSOPHY

I think love and respect are the most important values. I can accept any beliefs as long as they are non-violent and contribute to making the world a more positive and just place for everyone. I am interested in learning from everyone!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I hosted in Guadalajara, Mexico, Kentucky, USA and in Hamburg, Germany, and I keep in touch with my CS friends. Plus, some of my best friends in Hamburg I originally met through CS, and I also stay with amazing hosts!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Best experience was in Tamil Nadu, India, with gracious hosts who considered the "thank you" included and insisted on making my stay better than I could have imagined. I would like to do the same for one of you!

Interests

Art in all its forms (especially publicly accesible art), fair economies and trade and the philosophy of just work, culture and society and the influence they have on people in groups and individually, entreprenuership, living simply, traveling, reading, cycling, hiking, natural scenery, glass, learning languages, riding horses, watching people, public transportation, trying new food and drinks.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: general world history, memoirs, short story collections, Russian novels, assorted poetry (Wendell Berry and Wislawa Szymborska are favorites!), Latin American novels, immigrant literature, travel tales.
Music: depends greatly on my mood, but I like creative rhythms and imaginative lyrics. Love to dance to any music! I like people who make music, formally or informally.
Movies: those that are most like real life (depressing, shocking, unscripted). Please tell me about your favorite movies, especially if they are in a language besides English.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Once I saw a man and his wife on a pier. She was in a wheelchair, he was standing by her side, caressing her face and running his fingers through her hair. Love.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach how to mix drinks, speak English, cook a couple of good dishes, etc. I enjoy learning anything, especially about culture and languages. And we can share it all.
