About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Spend 2011 without having a 'place'. So far, so good.

ABOUT ME

I really love laughing, and saying funny things. So if you love laughing and saying funny things too, this just might work. I'm from small town BC (Prince George) and miss the mountains like the flower misses the sun. I did most of my university in Ottawa. I wish I could speak French. I have traveled a lot of Europe. Lived in Italy a bit finishing my degree on exchange, then hop-scotched around and landed in Ukraine to teach English. I love adventure.

PHILOSOPHY

You decide what you want, and you become it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I started by hosting a few folks, but have turned more to being hosted and meeting up recently. Eventually the seasons will change and I will return to hosting.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Not a tonne, but they've all been good!

Interests

I really enjoy a beer on a patio, a big, tasty, and very healthy breakfast and dinner, inspiring stories/books/movies, talking to my sister, a really tough challenge, the gps feature on my new phone, anything bbq-ed, Rick Mercer (who I recently met in an airport), being organized, getting hysterical, the ocean and as a close second lakes or rivers, putting on a nice suit and tie (but only when done by choice), public speaking, ESPN's Daily Dime, Vancouver, being able to see the Milky Way, exceeding expectations, talking to people who are smarter than me, Rockband (I've only tried it once though), small indepedant cafes or restaurants that are well-run and unique, my grandparents farm, being in small towns, seeing the world, learning, my super cool shoes that look like slippers, and the untouchable sheep skin jacket I often wear when wearing those super cool slipperlike shoes, stuff that's cleaver, people who are cleaver, water with no ice, asparagus, corn on the cob, and just recently salads, when good things happen to good people, talking about basketball with my dad, these salsa classes I've been going to for a few weeks now, nature, mountains, sunshine, getting up early when I'm well rested, a really nice view, when technology is useful, cool, and well thought-out, red wine, vodka (don't judge me, I lived in Ukraine for half a year ok), when people look up to me, having someone to look up to, street performers, homemade stuff, a really passionate kiss, driving through the prairies, Canada, and maybe one or two other things that I can't think of right now.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Snowboarded Italian Alps dressed as Batman, seen the Dalai Lama, Al Gore, Martin Sheen, Jane Goodall, Betty Johnson, Marc and Craig Keilburger, Rev Jesse Jackson, and Mia Farrow speak live, had a monkey steal the glasses off my face in Himalayas, visited 4 days of ceremonies of an Indian wedding in India, zip-lined through jungles in Costa Rica, crashed a Ukrainian wedding only to be befriended and honoured by the groom, bribed border guards to get stamps in my passport without being granted access to that country, draped snakes around my neck, saw Jordan/Pippen/Nash/Barkley/Kobe/Shaq/Lebron play courtside during each of their primes, done a backflip off the railing of a boat into the Pacific Ocean, flown off one high-rise trapeze through the air to be caught by a professional trapezist who threw me back to the first one, seen the fireworks at Disneyworld from the 'best seat in the house' (as verified and arranged by a park employee), woken up in a snow covered tent and hiked down to swim in palm tree lined water in the same day, flown directly over LAX in a 4 seater plane, completed astronaut training from NASA, chased a sunset for 8 hours by plane, slept on the streets of Barcelona, smoked a joint in the cafe in Amsterdam that was featured in Ocean's 12, made friends with a wolf, made love under a waterfall, seen a professional basketball, hockey, football, baseball and soccer match live, been inside a concentration camp, gone 15 days without eating, watched the Aurora Borealis with the love of my life in my arms, received a standing ovation from 300 people, taught a university class, sat in the cockpit of a private jet, jumped out of a plane, buried a message in a bottle that someone found 2 years later, drank 190 proof home brew, flew to another city just to have dinner then flew back that night, been denied access to the USA (as a Canadian this is kind of hard to do), had the lead role in a musical, been in the middle of a full blown riot, celebrated Carnival in Venice, snowboarded Whistler on fresh powder, did a surprise choreographed dance at a Michael Jackson themed karaoke wedding reception, been to the OK Coral and met the mayor of Tombstone, driven from the mouth of the St Lawrence River all the way across Canada to Vancouver, gone for a walk in -54 degree C weather, competed in a triathlon, saw Justin Beiber and the Jonas Brothers play the same concert with 18,000 screaming fans, watched a surfing competition live, and a few other things I can't remember right now.
