PHILOSOPHY
Live, laugh, love, learn. Actively let people come into your life. Most importantly, brush your teeth every day! Even better, get someone else to brush your teeth! :)
Be aware and truthful about your values and the reasons you do something, and act accordingly. Think critically about how your actions impact the system you are acting on. Aim for meaningful, fundamental and radical change. Recognize mistakes, and take action to avoid them in the future.
Centres d'intérêt
I'm a person driven by my passions: International Development, Sustainability, Youth Leadership, and Running.
* I'm currently in graduate studies to find out how to cost-effectively reduce greenhouse gas emissions by controlling residential electricity consumption. I have the most awesome academic supervisor in the world, and if you are ever considering Power Systems Engineering for research, look up Dr. Hamid Zareipour.
* I've been volunteering with Engineers Without Borders Canada for a few years now. I'm working to host the National Conference 2013 in Calgary at the moment.
* In the past, I was a community advisor in residence at the University of Calgary, and a summer camp counsellor for Shad Valley, a program for gifted 16-18 year olds.
* I love going to conferences. To the order of one every month or so. It's a great way to meet people with similar interests, connect to the industry, learn and share with others, and travel at once.
* I love hiking - Best hiking trip was in the Yukon in August 2010. I would seriously recommend the Chilkoot trail to anyone who thinks that they could hike 53 km (over several days).
* I am a runner. Not extremely fast, but I can haul long distances. Often, when I go visit friends, I bring a towel and a change of clothing so that I can run to their place and take a shower rather than taking public transit!
Beyond that, I really enjoy enjoying in general, whether it be a voyage to another country, a walk in the park, or waiting for a friend whose late, there are always great things to experience to make life a grandiose adventure.
* Trying to make skipping stones collide over water
* Watching an ant crawl on your hand without finding its way back on the ground
* Singing and dancing in the rain
* Cuddling, it's so PG-13 but I love it! Don't worry, I won't ever ask a CSer to cuddle because I don't want to make anyone uncomfortable at my place!
* Having an elastic fight with a friend
* Huddling up for warmth after swimming in a cold (glacier fed) lake
* Run 150 km to meet a friend in another town
* Worm fights (rolling on each other in sleeping bags) in tents
* Playing Battleship with Eggo waffles (grid) and blueberries (ships)
* Trying to create the best parachute for toy soldiers
* Learn different cultures at ethnic potlucks
* Feeling the warm sunshine on my chest and the cold snow on my back while making snow angels after a long hike.
