About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Stomping out Disease in Seattle and Angola

ABOUT ME

Pensive, passionate, playful. I've done my share of carrousing in the early days and have definitely settled down quite a bit in my professional life. Still, all it takes is being in an airport or train station to spark that old wanderlust and inspire me to lap up the freedom that travel brings. I am a lover of many things...a jack of all trades, music, language, interests, sports, conversation. I pride myself in being able to relate to both the jocks, the band geeks and the stoners. There really isn't much that I won't try at least once. I firmly believe that doing something every day that frightens you is the way to a full life. Lately, I've been quite entrenched in the busy balance of medical practice and family life, but try hard to fashion a lifestyle that includes travel and cultural immersion. I get to go to Sub-Saharan Africa (Mozambique and Angola) at least 3 times a year, and lately, have been criss-crossing the Pacific Northwest a lot for work. It's nice to have the journeys paid for, but I often long for ground-level human contact that you only get when breaking bread, sharing morning coffee, imbibing spirits, or making music together, late into the night.I spend a lot of time with my family (wife and two small kids), but am very much interested in expanding to the CS family as I am able.

PHILOSOPHY

Suck the marrow from life

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Surfed in Colorado with some great hosts. Longer-term extended surfing all summer. Unfortunately not able to host right now as I sold my house and will be moving to San Diego in September 2012. Stay tuned for the 'paradise couch' when we get settled in San Diego, however.
