ABOUT ME
Heya,
My name is Michael and I like to think that I am a sociable and easy-going guy who likes to banter over beers and meet new people over said activities. I generally enjoy travel and feel like I haven't done nearly enough despite living overseas and doing numerous spot travels. I am currently rectifying that worry by travelling through the States and Canada and eventually Burning Man later this august which should check a few boxes and be pretty swell (the understatements are reflexive don't fret). Other than travel I exhaust my time drinking coffee, reading books, writing things with pens, eating almonds and riding my bike through the rain in Melbourne while trying to plan the next educational move. Its pretty alright.
PHILOSOPHY
Want is not supply, Hunger is not bread.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Sadly I don't have a couch just yet as I'm living with too many people already but I am always keen for a coffee.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
When I first went Montreal - which initially was only for four days before I decided to move and live there - I fell in love with a girl I met on the second day of my stay. In order to fuel this ridiculous crush I decided to stay an extra week and spend every waking second with this girl. Unfortunately I was broke and she didn't have anywhere for me to stay in her house, so it came down to asking around for friends of friends who i knew nothing about, just to find a couch to stay on. I was introduced to this lovely French boy and his mother who treated me - a young scruffbag who they didn't know at all - like part of the family giving me a guest room, hot meals and even a key to their house. Ever since I have wanted to repay the favor and pay it forward to all who need it.
Interests
Boiled down: I like books, photography, coffee and music above all. I read and write more than healthy at times and drink coffee like water. I like talking academics and conversing about anything that comes to mind. I'm an active person who likes to get out and see as much as I can but who also enjoys lazing and crafting as well. Then, conversely, I also particularly enjoy getting wild and painting myself in glitter and rushing into the world as the embodiment on excitement from time to time.

Music, Movies, and Books
It all begins and ends with 70's and 80's cult horror films, Talking Heads and Kerouac Need I say more?
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Traveling around Tasmania with 3 cars full of friends destined for a music festival but surprised by a week-long camping trip through some of the most beautiful national parks my country has to offer. If you get a sec, check out the bay of fires and be prepared for the most sublime sunset you can ever see reflected in rock-pools as far as the eye can see.
Teach, Learn, Share
Ask me some obscure comic knowledge; ask me who would win out of a lion and a tiger; ask me whether I think communism would be a viable theory if Marx hadn't tied it so closely with economic reform. Any question and I'll give you my honest opinion, or, at least, someone to discuss it with.
