About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To enjoy the adventures on offer in our wonderful hometown, and meet great people in the process

ABOUT ME

In mid 2009 I completed a trans-continental bikeride across the USA with my boyfriend Sundance. Once back in Australia we cycled from Sydney to our home in Adelaide - and we've both thoroughly got the cycle-touring bug. For the next few years we're living in one spot (gasp!), and ready to share our place with fellow wanderers. We are adventurous intellectuals, and also fabulous cooks, if we do say so ourselves. We are good at catering to various dietary restrictions, such as Vegan or gluten-free, and we also rock at Indian/Thai/Middle Eastern/Mediterranean kind of cuisine.

PHILOSOPHY

Understanding and experience are their own reward. Be kind and respectful of others, and help build on the best parts of what makes humanity noble. And try to laugh every day.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We've done a fair amount of surfing, and are be able to host now that we are back in our hometown of Adelaide.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Some informal (i.e. non-website based) couchsurfing with friends in the UK, Japan, Hawaii. We've also stayed with new friends via Couchsurfing.org in Cincinnati, Ohio and New Orleans, and some other stays arranged through the warmshowers.org website, all of which have been extremely positive.

Music, Movies, and Books

Mostly science fiction, but the intellectual stuff, not the trashy stuff. Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. Travel books by Bill Bryson. Music from classical to rock - generally not metal or techno though.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Skinny-dipped at the base of the worlds highest waterfall (Angel Falls) in Venezuela. Handstands on the Great Wall. Been gob-smacked by the temples of Karnak and Luxor. Snorkelled with humpback whales. Cycled 7200km across North America, from Ontario, Canada to Baja California, Mexico. Okay, that's more than one thing :-)

Teach, Learn, Share

I make all my own sandals. Can teach cartwheels and other basic gymnastics skills. Can teach a bit of salsa dancing. Would like to learn to speed read.
