About Me
Last profile update: 14.03.2018
THRIVE | LOVE | INSPIRE
The three words that (currently) describe me most. A fulfilling life can in my opinion be summarised in the three main pillars of: 1. Personal Growth (THRIVE), 2. Relationships (LOVE) and 3. Meaning/Passion/Purpose (INSPIRE). Ultimately, it is about finding our true content within these pillars and a healthy balance between them. And if you ask me, it all starts with consciousness and a disciplined mind! Mastering ones mind, thoughts and desires is the key to living and thriving within all relevant areas in life.
ME IN A NUTSHELL
I am a very open-minded and ‘travel-addicted’ world citizen who loves to share thoughts and experiences with interesting fellow beings. Usually, my kind of lifestyle is quite active and thus I cannot guarantee you a place to stay. However, I'll surely do my best to let yet another wonderful connection take place in this life!
A few quick FACTS about myself: I grew up in Germany and finished my Bachelor in Economic Geography over there. After a long trip along the Panamericana, I started my Master in Sustainable Development (my biggest passion and interest field) in Utrecht & Austria. Some more travelling after that, 'career' life in the UK for a while (Sales) and now working on my Entrepreneurial dreams, while doing the occasional freelancing gig here and there + maybe still a bit too much travelling on the side.
My CHARACTER is influenced a lot by my extensive travels and all the amazing people I met during those trips. I am always curious about more travel stories, inspiration about how to live life in a different and better way and to generally listen to great ideas and thoughts! Clearly, I love seeing manifested actions as well! Recently, I re-discovered the 'inner worlds' and thus became again very interested in meditation, mind-expansion and any sort of compelling new experience.
PHILOSOPHY
"Life is short, forgive quickly, kiss slowly, love truly, laugh uncontrollably, and never regret anything that made you smile. Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did. So sail away from the safe harbour. Explore. Dream. Discover."
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I heard about CouchSurfing during my first long road-trip through the US (2007) and from the first experience on I started LOVING it... Considering, that I was taken to a water-plane flight with my host and his flight student all the way from Connecticut, over Manhattan and then to the border to Canada where we slept on a little island, is probably a good reason to stick to it, ey? ;-)
All the countless amazing people I met during my trips and who I hosted, have certainly defined my character to a large extend! Even though I do enjoy hostel life as well, I will always prefer CS to any alternative!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE:
Having met far more than 100 people through CouchSurfing is probably a convincing argument for calling my ‘experience’ quite sufficient I guess… If I think of all the crazy travellers, former homeless people, successful business owners and adventure seekers I would say that the variety of humans couldn't have been any broader. I’ve slept on roofs, in garages, on floors, on couches (surprise surprise), in beds, outside on the grass, and various other locations and would immediately stay again with every person I met so far, if I had the chance of doing so!
Lastly, I stayed often (and hosted) with queer hosts and it has always been amazing, but to avoid any false expectations - I am straight! =)
Interests
My interest are far reaching and generally there is not much I am absolutely not interested in.
However, in order to specify it at least a little bit, I am (1) professionally/academically seen very interested in: entrepreneurship as a whole, (corporate) sustainability issues, consultancy, biomimicry, (change) management, deep geo-politics, economic geography, astronomy, psychology and philosophy.
My (2) non-professional interests range from personal development, over to well-being, healthy cooking and nutrition, alternative life-styles, yoga, outdoor activities, festivals, critical documentaries/movies, photography, socialising, spirituality, meditation, sports (basketball, jogging, workout, tennis and winter sports) and above all of course travelling!! Whatever it is, as long as it is valuable and adding happiness, I'm surely into it!

Music, Movies, and Books
MUSIC,
the gateway to the soul! What would life be without it? My taste for music is quite diverse and my main criteria for liking the specific song is that I have to have the feeling the artists has put his/her true passion in it and was not driven by commercial ambitions. Thus, genre-wise I would not narrow it down too much since each situation and mood I am in requires a different genre. However, in general I prefer rather melodic and atmospheric music. Just to name a few of my favs: Electric President, Radical Face, Alt J, Death Cab for Cutie, Dub Fx, Bonobo, Moderat, Emancipator, Parov Stelar, Quantic, The Postal Service, Youth Lagoon, Xavier Naidoo, Thomas D.! Furthermore, I am always down for some good Jazz, Deep House, Tech House, Chillout (Chilltrax.com), Dubstep/Drum n' Bass (on parties) and good classical music!
BOOKS,
written words that can change a life! My consumption of (audio)-books (and Podcasts) is quite significant and there are hardly any moments that I leave my house without listening to an audio book. When I am jogging or just commuting anywhere, my ears are filled with words. Genre-wise I really enjoy professional/non-fiction books that teach important lessons for life. I listing to anything from business/entrepreneurship literature to psychology, philosophy, astronomy and motivational books. Of cause, the good old classics are on my list as well. Literally too many to mention now and if you resonate with the rest of my profile, I am sure there are common titles on both of our lists...
MOVIES/Documentaries,
the teleporters to a new world of imagination! I do not really want to know how many hours of my life I have spent watching movies and documentaries. Even though I got quite picky about what I am watching, my to-watch-list seems to be never ending (currently >1500 to go). If chosen wisely, I believe that movies can have a significantly positive impact on a character since there is so much to learn from them. Most movies have a way deeper meaning, once you try to dive further into them and read in-between the lines. I would say that films like: Inception, It's a wonderful life, The Shawshank Redemption, Fight Club, Memento, Crash, The Usual Suspects, The Dark Knight, Into the wild, V for Vendetta, Nymphomaniac, Amelie, 3 Idiots, Drive, The Watchmen, Garden State, La Vita es bella, Die fetten Jahre sind vorbei, Inherit the wind, The Pursuit of Happiness, The beach, Layer Cake, Clockwork Orange, Hero, The Notebook, Snatch, Pay it forward and Waking Life (just to name a few) have planted several seeds of precious thought within my mind.
Besides movies, I also love watching documentaries and some of my favourite ones so far are: Inside Job, Earthlings, Inner Worlds Outer Worlds , Let's make money, Home, We feed the world, The story of stuff, Waste Land, The Corporation, The Light Bulb Conspiracy, Zeitgeist and Money as Debt.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
An extensive Road-trip along the Panamericana (Vancouver to Rio) with a good friend of mine in 2010/2011!

(Good that CS is only asking for ONE thing ;-))
Teach, Learn, Share
TEACH: To truly question our believes, desires in life and paradigms we too often blindly believe. I love to do my share of inspiration and questioning the fundamentals.
Furthermore, I have a lot to share about sustainability, geography/geo-politics, travel experiences, freedom, love, meditation, movies and photography, to just name a few. All the really spaced-out stuff will be revealed in person, if the guild of time-travellers grands me permission to do so.
LEARN: I am always curious to learn more about YOUR way of living a value-generating life and your ambitions within it. Whatever you want to teach, I will appreciate it and listen to you with all my attention and heart! I am specifically interested in spirituality, rare experiences you had and any obscure interest of any sort.
SHARE: An opportunity in life worth remembering, micro or macro -adventures and loads of Metta.
What I Can Share with Hosts
The revelation about the true meaning of life...
If that doesn't interest you, surely some nice travel stories, life philosophies, tools & techniques about life management, thoughts about spirituality, meditation and Easter bunnies.
And on the physical side, surely my place, water, food and warmth.
