About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Usually just trying to be a decent person. I've been teaching middle school for about 5 years and, while it's been very fulfilling, I'm thinking of a change. I am looking into perhaps teaching abroad.

ABOUT ME

I love to play music any chance I get. I have some degree of ability on the guitar, sitar, mandolin, bass, harmonica, piano, and I sing a bit. I also love to go trail running and mountain biking. In the summer I tend to travel--this summer I'll be in Europe! I'm a vegetarian, but not a pushy obnoxious one. I tend to like healthful food.

PHILOSOPHY

This is a box! I don't want to try to make my views on life literally "fit in a box."

I need to think about this more.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I only signed up two years ago, and sadly I've only had two experiences. The ones I had were wonderful, however. I would love a chance to host more people, but unfortunately my city of Roswell is not a very popular destination...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have only CouchSurfed twice, and I'm happy to say both were awesome experiences! A wonderful human being in Manhattan made me feel completely at home, and she showed me around the city, provided great conversation, and converted me to a CouchSurfing fan! After that, a year later, I stayed with a delightful couple in Manchester; they made me feel completely at home as well.

Interests

Music, running, biking (especially mountain biking), writing, camping, hiking, gardening, traveling, and learning new languages, WWOOFing, trying to understand physics, listening to live music, indie bands, reading

Music, Movies, and Books

I can never think of what are my favorite books/movies/music when put on the spot. Here... this is the best I can do for now:

In the last couple of days I have been listening to the following: Elliott Smith, Tom Waits, Joy Division, Psychedelic Furs, Blind Melon, Young the Giant, MGMT, Temper Trap, and Radiohead. This is subject to change though.

Favorite book? I'm an English teacher, so asking me this question makes me nervous--it makes me feel like I need to write an essay in response.

Movies? I really liked Children of Men. I'm also a huge David Lynch fan, though none of my friends will ever watch one of his films with me. Also, I really, really, REALLY want to see a movie called Meloncholia. Have you heard of it? If you want to see it, please come stay with me so we can go see it!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I really enjoy busking because I have met some truly amazing people. Some of my most wonderful experiences are ones I didn't plan for.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love meeting musicians that are up for simply playing for the sake of playing. Aside from that, I find I like meeting most anyone. Even if a person does not share my views, if I'm patient enough I always learn something from them.

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Mexico, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

Brazil, France, United States
