Overview
About Me
Hi there! I'm Mecky, 23 years old and a student from Cologne.
I love traveling the world and living in foreign places for longer times.
China has caught my special attention: I lived in Nanning for 6 months just after graduation when I was 18 and spent another 6 months in Guangzhou for studying. And now I'm finally back, living and working in Beijing!
I also love to bake and cook, can't go a week without sports (running, hiking, tennis, ...) and usually get up early to get the most out of my days even when nights are short.
Exploring new places, cities and countries is exciting and fun, but what usually makes an experience truly amazing is the people you meet along the way.
I love exchanging adventures with fellow travelers and getting to know their stories.
I had my first Couchsurfing experiences when I went backpacking in Canada this year. I was welcomed by lovely people who showed me around the special places in town, took me to local concerts or we just hung out and watched movies together.
However I like to spend at least part of time exploring the place I visit by myself, even though it's always amazing to get those secret, local travel advice!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
It is fun to meet people along the way and make connections. Whether it's just to spend the afternoon or even a few days together!
I also enjoy talking to open minded people, listen to their life stories or showing them where I live and why I love it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
There will never by enough space in this section, but as a start:
- Hiking up the Torres Del Peine in Patagonia (it was even better than climbing the Great Wall of China)
- Watching the sunrise over the salt flats in Bolivia
- Visitier the Khmer temples in Cambodia
- Seeing the sun rise in Bagan
- dancing all night until the sun's up again at home in Cologne
Teach, Learn, Share
My Chinese has gotten pretty decent and I think I could teach the basics - but there is still a long way to go, so I would love to learn from a native!
Same goes for cooking and baking - I love to share and learn from others!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am a good 'everyday-food' cook and love to bake - so when visiting someones home, I would appreciate cooking for you (especially when I don't get the chance to cook by myself often while traveling). Otherwise its just sharing whatever you want to know and I can tell over a drink or a cozy cup of coffee.
