About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Traveling my way and finding my path !!!

I’m Kaloyan, a psychiatrist working in Norway. I was born in Nicaragua and have Bulgarian roots, so I’ve grown up between different cultures — something that shaped my curiosity about people and how we see the world.

In my work, I’m a biologically oriented psychiatrist, with a PhD in the field of schizophrenia. At the same time, I’m very interested in the human side of things — anthropology, philosophy and how people make sense of their lives.

I enjoy conversations that go a bit deeper, but I also appreciate simple moments — a walk, a meal, or just a calm evening.

Outside of work, I’m into music — mostly ambient, progressive and a bit experimental. I play and produce as well, so I always enjoy connecting with people through music.

I like exploring places through the people who live there, not just as a tourist.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

For me, Couchsurfing is not just about finding a place to stay, but about experiencing a place through the people who actually live there.

I travel quite a bit for work, and I’ve realized that the most meaningful parts of a trip are usually the small, human moments — conversations, shared meals, or simply seeing how someone else lives their everyday life.

Coming from a background between Nicaragua, Bulgaria and now Norway, I’ve always valued cultural exchange and different perspectives. Couchsurfing feels like a natural way to keep that part of life alive.

I’m not looking for anything complicated — just a genuine, respectful exchange. Sometimes that means long conversations, other times just sharing a calm space.

Interests

I’m interested in people — how we think, feel and make sense of the world, which naturally led me to psychiatry.

I enjoy anthropology and philosophy, especially when they connect to real life. Books that stayed with me include Zorba the Greek by Kazantzakis and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.

Music is a big part of my life — mostly ambient, progressive and experimental. I’m into artists like Steven Wilson, Tesseract, Marcus Miller
and Snarky Puppy, and I also play and produce a bit myself.

I practice Kyokushin karate, enjoy traveling, and I’m interested in emerging topics like the use of psychedelics in psychiatric treatment.

I like simple things too — walking, exploring cities, being in nature — and I value both good conversations and comfortable silence.
