ABOUT ME
I am soooo excited to finally have the time to travel again. I just finished up school, and will be moving back to San Francisco whenever I finish this big trip. A few years ago I lived in Chile, where I taught myself Spanish. Unfortunately I forgot a lot of it--hopefully I get some of it back over the next couple of months.
As a person, I'd say I'm laid-back and straightforward, friendly, and good at looking out for other people. All of my reviews say that I am bubbly, but I think I'm a little too sarcastic to be described that way. I love music, photography, dancing and food, but don't think I'm very good at any of them and would love to get better. I care a lot more than meeting people than I care about a free couch, so anyone interested in grabbing a beer while I'm in town should message me!
IMPORTANT: Over the past few years I have had several hosts put moves on me. It makes me sad that something so great is treated as an international hookup site by so many of its members. Anyway, if that's what you're looking for, don't waste your time on me.
PHILOSOPHY
Karma and kindness. Pay it forward. And laugh as much as possible.
"a symphony orchestra.
there is a thunderstorm,
they are playing a Wagner overture
and the people leave their seats under the trees
and run inside to the pavilion
the women giggling, the men pretending calm,
wet cigarettes being thrown away,
Wagner plays on, and then they are all under the
pavilion. the birds even come in from the trees
and enter the pavilion and then it is the Hungarian
Rhapsody #2 by Lizst, and it still rains, but look,
one man sits alone in the rain
listening. the audience notices him. they turn
and look. the orchestra goes about its
business. the man sits in the night in the rain,
listening. there is something wrong with him,
isn't there?
he came to hear the
music." -- Rain, by Charles Bukowski
"Treat the earth well. It was not given to you by your parents, it was loaned to you by your children." Kenyan proverb
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've couchsurfed across Europe and Brazil, and met tons of travelers for coffee. I've also hosted a few people in the US, and have brought a few spectacular people into this community.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My first CS experience, I met my host in a pub in London. He showed up carrying an antique chandelier and two old suitcases. I slept on a 15 foot trampoline. I'm not one to judge people on their apartments, but this was every bit as magical as my host. As someone who was hesitant to leave the hostel world, I was forever converted by his charm and personality. And I've been lucky--almost every host and their apartment/flat/house/studio since then have been equally unique and wonderful.
Interests
People watching, being outside, volleyball, wittiness, street performers, anything written on the sidewalk, skinny-dipping, walking barefoot, crewneck sweatshirts, fireplaces. Walking, be it in the wilderness or through cities.
