Overview
About Me
I am a writer in the making, currently working on my "debut" novel. As a means of earning, I translate from and between English and Bengali. I also work on scripts for documentaries and television serials. While I have only been in India (beyond this country), I would love to see more, and meet more people.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To meet new people. If human beings were not designed to perish, I would set out to meet everyone on this planet. I should have tried this anyway. And now it feels a bit too late.
But, since it's never too late, I would like to keep my doors open for anyone who happens to come to Dhaka.

Music, Movies, and Books
Favorite music - from edm to grime, via folk. My friends tell me I am more or less tone-deaf. I guess that explains the range and the randomness.
Favorite movies - Hellboy. Reservoir Dogs. Relatos Salvajes. A lot of blood and a dose of philosophy.
Favorite books - far too many to keep a track of. Pamuk. Manto. Kundera. Cortazar. Mujataba Ali. Ghalib. Detienne. Kierkegaard. Dostoyevsky. Tristam Shandy. Wodehouse. Larkin. And may the list never end.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I lived in the 21st century. And still living, as we speak. Ain't that amazing?
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach Bengali (which has an abundance of literature and two modestly surviving film industries). I can show people around the old city of Dhaka and introduce them to such wonderful relishes as Dhakaiya biriyani or "Big father's sons eat" (it is an actual dish, yes, Bengali name: "boro baaper polay khay"). And I could also teach English to non-native speakers. I have done my B1 in Spanish and am concurrently learning Arabic and Hindi, so if anyone needs to practice them, I am up for it.
I will love to learn more languages, read more, and join a circus one day. And learn a musical instrument, to prove to my friends that I am not tone-deaf. Not really.
At home, I can share my room and my collection of four thousand books with you. On the road, I can only share the good times.
What I Can Share with Hosts
My wit. My not-so-horrible cooking skills, which mostly encompasses tea and egg-dishes. And whatever I happen to carry at that moment.
