About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Enjoy life - no matter where, no matter what age and enjoy what each day brings.

ABOUT ME

My passion and great love is travel ... sitting in cafes, and wine bars drinking in the ambience of my delightful surroundings, anywhere, anytime.I think travel is the most important thing you can do in life to learn and give back to countries you visit, whether it's by shopping and supporting the local craftspeople or mixing with the locals to really get a feel for the place.
When I don't work as an English teacher to foreign students, I like to catch up with friends, read a lot,go ballroom dancing (an amateur), sailing and play golf.I would also describe myself as a humanitarian who cares a lot about people in this world and its injustices.
However, I'm not a worthy sort and enjoy aimless pursuits, like vegging on beaches.

PHILOSOPHY

You give a lot, you will always get back in kind.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I travelled around the world in 2008 and met other couch surfers. It made my stay in the places I met couchsurfers extra special. Now, I'm back living in Perth, Western Australia and am available if anyone wants to catch up for a coffee and find out interesting things to do here, or just have someone for company over a meal or listening to jazz. I will always be willing to help out with information about the city I live in and put people I meet in touch with other friends in the same country as they travel. I may be able to host.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I lived in London once for 2 years on a working holiday. Seven of us paid rent, but usually there were more like 10 living in the flat... the rest all couch surfers. To this day it's been one of my self-defining living experiences, a ton of fun at the time and a scene where I built some life long friendships that have stood the test of time.
Why? Because we partied endlessly for 2 years and believe it or not, that's a good foundation for solid friendships.

Interests

Travel, jazz and blues music .. live bands, food from around the world and dancing. Films ... all sorts from arthouse to uproarious comedies and books from easy thrillers to Pulitzer prizewinners.
Making friends with people from as many countries in the world as possible.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies .. All sorts.
Music ... Blues and jazz and a mix of other stuff
Books ... All sorts from trash to classics

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In a tiny lorry in the Atlas mountains in Morocco, I sat on a grain of wheat, eyeballing a goat near me, surrounded by Berber tribesman. The sun set as we entered the gorge and as we drove through it, the stars came out and lit the night sky. It was so beautiful it took my breath away and for a moment I felt I was a finger-digit away from touching heaven.

Teach, Learn, Share

I spent my childhood in India, and half my life in New Zealand and Australia. From being an immigrant and at times being the square peg in a round hole, I know it takes all sorts to make a wonderful world.
