About Me

I live with my son, daughter and husband on the outskirts of a fairly sized medieval town south of Utrecht. We both work a few days a week in education.

ABOUT ME

I've lived in Amsterdam for over 9 years and in April '14 I left for some good travels around Europe. Me and my little car visited people, in Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Czech rep, Italy, Romania, Bulgaria, Albania, Greece, Montenegro, Servia, Croatia and so on...

I've been looking for stories about aging. How do people in different European countries look at growing older? How do our cultures treat the elderly? What does seniority bring to us? I blog on www.ameesing.com.
And of course, you don't have to be old, we are all aging. At this very moment! Argh! Or yayy?! :-)

I'm back now, with the intention to stay and do something with the outcomes of my trip. Starting the engine...

PHILOSOPHY

Wie goed doet, goed ontmoet! Or in English: To be sweet is to meet sweet

Music, Movies, and Books

I have a box full of unread books in the back of my car, books I've gathered over the last 10 years and never got to read for one reason or another. I hope to tell you more about them on my travels : )

Update one: I read Heaven and Hell from Stefansson, because one of my hosts recomended it. She said: it is truly art. And is is. Beautiful book! Really. Thanks Maja.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

All travels have some special things to it, but I suppose that I had some really amazing encounters with people when I was travelling Guatemala on my own when I was 18. Some people really took care of me when I needed it, and I will always be grateful for that.

Teach, Learn, Share

I know how to cook some things. And I can tell you some (quite a lot actually) about my former job, corporate social responsibility, human rights & business, social innovation, international (fair)trade and more.

Countries I’ve Visited

Albania, Austria, Belgium, Belize, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Burkina Faso, Colombia, Czech Republic, Denmark, El Salvador, England, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Ghana, Greece, Guatemala, Honduras, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Mali, Mexico, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Panama, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russian Federation, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States
