About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To get ready to speak a lot of Spanish

ABOUT ME

i'm an american shitstick, born in hawaii, grew up in the south, and now living in the northwest..

..where i go to college, which i don't really like, but the town of olympia is a really unique and amazing place, and i have some lovely friends. and i'm getting paid to go.

i'm a scorpio/aries/libra for you astrology kids, which i can be, even though i am skeptical in believing in anything, but it is a nice thing to fill the void of not believing in a monotheistic god

i am forever the bearer of the scales, and it's to my benefit and to my bane that i see many sides to everything and am hard-pressed to make decisions without really looking. or trying to. that being said, i have some convictions i live by. like being accountable to people. and treating the world with respect, if i can. right now, i'm in sort of a transitional period in my life in which i'm reevaluating myself, my environment and my beliefs.

--

in general, i am easy to talk to and hard to get to know. i love meeting people, i love to conversate and i love people's quirks. i am a night creature.

i love going out to parties and events. i am a lush, and i love to indulge. i care about collective liberation, people, nature, and i grasp ideas like gems.

i'm being all serious, but that's only some of my personality. mostly i'm really fun loving.

PHILOSOPHY

i don't see any higher purpose, but i'm not a nihilist. i fill the void of god with my own mysticism and a little emptiness.

i think we are accountable to each other as people who are sharing a planet. i think that all the destruction that goes on is disgusting, but i also wonder why it doesn't happen more. i wonder if war is a natural force in life, yet still i am against it.

i think that our predecessors have created a world that's pretty fucked up. i try and do my part by helping strengthen my community and friends, and i appreciate communities that live by values that are their own and not given to us, in whatever forms they manifest. i don't blame anyone, because we've all been through a lot and the way things are it's hard to care or be able to do.

my life is half serious half goofy, and i am a cyclical creature, like the phoenix. 'm always striving for inner and outer truths, and i don't think i've ever really know, but i'm into the experience.

Music, Movies, and Books

music is me. i love samba and other brazilian music, underground and mainstream hip-hop, country and roots, jazz and soul, syphonies, punk and hardcore, etc.

i'm a big fan of music that is produced outside of the mainstream, and am lucky to live in a place that has a large d.i.y. music scene.

--

as for movies, eh, i like 'em but i'm not a movie fanatic. i, however, am crazy about most every pedro almodóvar movie i've ever seen (especially todo sobre mi madre), and also love movies such as: the 400 blows, buñuel, my own private idaho, ma vie en rose, xxy, battle royale, disney, mean girls, etc.

--

i like books. for the past while, all i've been reading is sci-fi and fantasy. this summer i read the animorphs trilogy, and i just got done rereading the his dark materials trilogy. in the genre, i also am a huge fan of susanna clarke's jonathan strange and mr. norrell and harry potter.

i love theatre and reading plays. some of my favorite plays include huis clos/no exit, the history boys, and la cantatrice chauve/the bald soprano. i think beckett and oscar wilde are great too. i also like newer, more experimental stuff.

my favorite books i ever read might be luis de bernières' south american trilogy, even though i've only read two of them.

nowadays, unfortunately, i'm busy a lot and mostly read french stuff for my class. which is fun.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

gah!

Teach, Learn, Share

i love to learn things from people, especially because i learn really well from being shown.

i've got some tricks up my sleeve as far as knowledge goes. nothing special, but if someone brings up a subject i know i might share a tidbit.

i know things about language/linguistics, culture, literature, gender and queer stuff. and lots of other stuff i bet!

and i love having conversations!
